North and Midlands that Labour needs to win back think Starmer’s wrong to want schools open

Starmer’s policy adviser was right

A YouGov poll that asked English voters whether they want schools poen or closed during the government’s ‘fire-break’ national lockdown carries a stark message for Labour leader Keir Starmer.

People across the nation believe that schools should be closed – hardly surprising when they represent one of the main drivers of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and even Boris Johnson has admitted the virus passes readily from children to adults – and the areas with the highest numbers who want schools shut, including an outright majority in one, are the Midlands and north:

In spite of the clear scientific evidence that schools are playing a far bigger role in the spread of the virus than shops or hospitality – and his own acknowledgement that not closing them will prolong the lockdown in other sectors – Starmer continues to side with the Tories in their determination to keep schools open.

This position is rejected by voters in the northern and Midlands areas where Labour lost fifty seats in last year’s general election – and will inflict the heaviest damage on those same areas.

As the SKWAWKBOX exclusively revealed yesterday, a Labour policy adviser tasked to investigate the pandemic crisis and advise on the party’s response warned both that not closing schools would help the virus spread – and that failing to oppose the Tories on schools would be a squandered opportunity to boost Labour politically.

The first part of that advice is clearly supported by the science – and the latter part is borne out by the new polling.

If Starmer is remotely serious about winning power, he is going about it in exactly the wrong way – and enabling Boris Johnson to cause even further needless deaths.

  1. “… want schools poen or closed during …”

Think you mean “… want schools open or closed during …” Skwawky.

    Apart from that, totally agree!

  2. SIR KEITH starmer, like his Tory deceivers, do not give one jot about saving any lives nor promoting health. Not ONE jot.
Their ONLY concern is making sure the interests of those wishing to profit out of fear, misery, death, grief are protected.

TORIES are even leaking commercially sensitive STATE info to hedge funds, for a FEE‼️‼️‼️ Eg what vaccines BloJob & Cumcums are planning to buy.
P.S. Cummings trip to Barnard Castle was not just to TEST his eyesight. Take note. Where did you hear of BARONESS Dido Harding and SERCO and Deloitte first re EXPLOITING Covid-19 for FILTHY profit???

  3. £45k+ of members’ money spunked on a Policy Advisor because they’re as much use as cherie blair’s beautician.

That’s if stammer only has the one….

Even I can tell blockead to agree with the toerags for half the dosh…money for old rope; because no matter what you tell him he’ll just agree with the ‘rags anyhow.

    1. £41 billion. Forty One Billion £s. Remember that figure. If 20 million poor people got £41 BILLION to share, would HMRC consider their identities “confidential”⁉️⁉️⁉️ £41 billion on top of the un contested BILLIONS in Covid-19 #10 awarded contracts.

Lets see if SIR Starmer EVER questions these irregularities???

I’m being a bit cryptic i know but don’t hold your breath. Lets see if Max Headroom Starmer queries the vast sums of money sloshing about amongst the ONE PERCENT. From BloJob to ALL Tory associates!!! Lets see …

      1. Jack T, being called a political ingénue by obsessive-compulsive hatemongers, conspiracy dupes, trolls, faux-socialists and the politically-overlooked … is like being assaulted by a two-year-old.

      2. That’s some persecution complex you’ve got there David. Who are all these people who are tormenting you?

  4. OK, I’ll put it another way since allegory clearly passes you by Jack T – you’re obsessed and your comments are tedious, repetitive and so obvious as to be not worth the ink.
You’re what I’d call a one trick donkey were I not so considerate of the feelings of others.

Who torments me? Nobody’s tried since I outgrew my peers and my father in height, strength and intellect at around 12 or 13 and kept on growing – I don’t know where they came from but I got some good genes from somewhere.
Pacifism is OK and I’m sort-of intellectually committed to it, but it is fucking boring. I loved scrapping and guns so much as a kid I planned to join the army until Dylan convinced me to fight warmongers instead.
Too much of a barricade-junkie to be a genuine peacenik though, so piss on you, Jack.
