Video: Tories wobble after 1000+ students chant ‘Get Gav Gone’ outside Williamson’s education department mirrored by protests around nation

Chants of ‘Justice for the working class’ and calls for Williamson to come out of hiding also heard

Well over a thousand students gathered yesterday outside the Department for Education to protest against the theft of their A-level grades by the Tories’ scandalous algorithm that deprived working class and ethnic minority students while boosting the results of exclusive private schools.

Chants of ‘Get Gav Gone’, ‘Justice for the working class’ and calls for Williamson to come out of hiding were heard – and appear to have the Tories rattled:

The protest was mirrored by others around the country, such as this one in Liverpool – and most of them reminded the Tories that all the students robbed last week will be eligible to vote in the next general election:

Shaken Tories are scrabbling today to find a way out of the scandal, with even Tory front-benchers putting pressure on Williamson to do something and the government has indicated an announcement will be made later today.

However, while the Scottish government wisely backtracked on its own grade adjustment last week it looks like the Tories will merely offer guidance on appeals.

It will not be enough.

  1. Whilst opposition mounts from students, schools, colleges, universities, parents, LibDems, Mayors, even Tory MPs (!!), the Starmerites offer the weakest opposition possible. What WOULD they actually oppose?

  2. The inevitable consequence of an insane policy of lockdown which has robbed students of at least 6 months of face to face classroom based teaching and could potentially affect them for the rest of their lives on a virus which has a mortality rate of about 0.07% predominantly affects old people with a median age of 80 years old and 95% of the fatalities had, according to the NHS one or more serious illnesses, therefore, the virus was not the primary cause of death. Not forgetting of course, the incidence of death from the virus in a school population of about 7,800,000 is about 0.0005%.

    1. I thought that the rate was even lower. Now were we to have an half way decent opposition the whole truth would come out. How did Max Headroom ever get elected. Pathetic.

    2. brianbotou – “Not forgetting of course, the incidence of death from the virus in a school population of about 7,800,000 is about 0.0005%.”

Indeed, many of the young people who become infected with SARS CoV-2 will be asymptomatic. And there lies the problem.

      1. To repeat the school population is about 7,800,000 and the fatalities rate is about 0.0005% and probably much lower. The vast majority of the cohort who die from Covid-19 are in the 80-90 year age group. Average life span in the UK about 80 years old. Young people are more likely to die from an meteorite strike than Covid 19. Fatalities rate from Covid-19 about 0.007% population of UK 66500,000 biggest cause of death dementia, followed by cancer, heart disease, Parkinson’s, diabetes etc. Fatalities soley from about Covid-19 0.00035%.

      2. brianbotou – As you obviously failed to grasp my point the first time round I will follow your example and repeat it
many of the young people who become infected with SARS CoV-2 will be asymptomatic. And there lies the problem.
        Hope this helps

      3. Would it not be possible for you both to have your never-ending ‘discussion’ about coronavius elsewhere – ie exchange email addresses, for example, and continue it privately – because it just goes round and round and round, and on and on and on, every single time there’s an article on the topic AND even if it ISN’T, often as not!

Yes, I know we can just scroll past your tete a tetes – and I’d be surprised if most people DON’T – but it does get a bit tiresome when you keep seeing it again and again and again.

      4. Allan – I know the feeling, I tend to scroll past much of your content.

  3. It’s a joke government. It really is. Everything they touch turns to shambles. And there at the centre is Dominic (Wormtongue) Cummings dripping slogans into Johnson’s ear and busily engaged in destroying the civil service, the last haven of sense and relative efficiency! As for Williamson, he really doesn’t stand out from the crowd of incompetents when you look at those around him . . . Patel, Truss, Raab, ‘Wide Boy’ Jenrick, not to mention Hancock ‘The Destroyer.’After all It’s a government that very recently when looking for a place to put Chris Grayling where he could do least harm (having wrecked every ministerial brief he’s had) wanted to put him in charge of the Security and Intelligence Committee!
Meanwhile, ‘Hammer of the Right’ Starmer continues with his three pronged policy toward the Tories: (Say nothing, say something bland as bland can be, or support them to the hilt.) Leave it to the school kids Keir, they’ll sort it out, don’t worry.

    1. I wonder how many of these students parents voted these jokes in ? if they did and I was a student I would be having a go at the parents. Bitter yes very. I was in our local town some years back with the local labour party. we were there about the tories have taken a lot away from students to EMA , bus passes etc. The people looked at us like we were dirt. that was about 2015.

      1. A whole lot of people voted these nasty incompetent politicians in, and many proudly boasting that they’d always voted Labour before. And even now, after the shit show of the last year (and counting) their ratings are still holding up. It’s incomprehensible. England is addicted to the Tories (and we in Scotland have got to break free). (Hey, that could be a song . . !)

        I voted Labour leave but
No Deal and all bets are off, I’m just over the border with a pick up truck, Border Reivers R Us

  4. Change the language

    Tory Eugenics
Only the great and the good can be allowed to prosper

Wake up they don’t like competition from the peasantry,
Looking at Cameron and Johnson, you can see why ‘thick as pig shit’

  5. This is the radicalism that reverberated the UK from 1880 to 1914 and which turned Winston Churchill into a vicious war-monger against embryonic socialism, its illegitimate step-sister liberalism, and the working class.

This is not just a group of people worrying about their grades and the material well-being or harm that they unleash. This is a broken system cohabiting with a capitalist economic system that has been on life-support since 2001/08 causing people to consider radical thoughts and hopes.

Gavin Williamson and his ilk are right to be worried.

It’s just an almighty great potty that at this moment the Labour Party has a blairemark3*, one Sir Keir Rodney Starmer KCB QC MP, as leader.

    * Blair mark3 minus the electoral capacities (neither shared by mark2 (Cameron), nor the original Blair once his true neoliberal and neo-con politics were appreciated).

  6. Not sure why my comment earlier today still awaits moderation. I described Johnson as the second to last (elected) Dictator in Europe and suggested the police were busy re-charging their Tasers to deal with unruly kids. Nothing very terrible. It’s probably WordPress (again).

    1. Paul Brand
      @PaulBrandITV
BREAKING: Exams regulator Ofqual has just announced that all A levels and GCSEs in England will now be graded according to teacher assessments (predicted grades).

This is a screeching u-turn from the government – on Saturday the Education Secretary said “No u-turn. No change.”

  7. Steve H, 5.09 pm. “ many of the young people who become infected with SARS 2 will be become asymptomatic…” I grasped your point straight away hence why I pointed out that the overwhelming majority of the Covid 19 fatalities are between the ages of 80-90 plus as I stated, as the NHS, that 95% of the fatalities had one or more serious diseases, and did not die primarily from Covid 19. Therefore, 5% died solely from Covid 19.

To put that into perspective the fatalities amount to about 41000, which means that about 2000 people died solely from Covid 19. The population of the U.K. is about 66500000 which means that fatalities rate solely from Covid 19 is about 0.0035% . Biggest Medical Cause of Death in the U.K. dementia, followed by Cancer and chronic respiratory diseases.

To put that in perspective every year about 165,000 people die of cancer, and as the NHS have stated the incidences of cancer plus possible death will rise, the survival rates will fall, because of the insane lockdown. And this is just the second highest cause of death in the U.K. The problem is not the kids but the people who swallowed the hype, hysteria and fear and we all, except the Bankers, hedge funds, very wealthy investors, will pay a very dear price for this.

    1. brianbotou – I was actually thinking more along the lines that asymptomatic teenagers infecting those more vulnerable than themselves might prove to be a problem. Your inability to grasp this is concerning.

      1. The factual evidence of young people under the age 20 infecting those more vulnerable has not been proven. If you have factual evidence, let’s have a look at it instead of more vacuous rhetoric!

      2. brianbotou – More to the point dummy it hasn’t been disproven.

      3. briabotou – This is the current advice from the CDC

        Infections and Transmission Among Children
It is unclear whether children are as susceptible to infection by SARS-CoV-2 compared with adults and whether they can transmit the virus as effectively as adults. Recent evidence suggests that children likely have the same or higher viral loads in their nasopharynx compared with adults and that children can spread the virus effectively in households and camp settings.
Due to community mitigation measures and school closures, transmission of SARS-CoV-2 to and among children may have been reduced in the United States during the pandemic in the spring and early summer of 2020. This may explain the low incidence in children compared with adults. Comparing trends in pediatric infections before and after the return to in-person school and other activities may provide additional understanding about infections in children.

  8. Alan Howard, As someone who proclaims to be a socialist, if you cannot see how this hyped up crisis will lead to an ever decreasing freedom to freely associate, freedom to travel and the social engineering taking place right before your eyes, I suggest you are not paying attention to what is happening. The moves being planned by the establishment and the deep state will make Orwell’s 1984 book seem like a walk in the park.

    1. “The moves being planned by the establishment and the deep state will make Orwell’s 1984 book seem like a walk in the park.”

“So your [sic] making statements with no proof, no evidence, no documentation just the same old smear and bullshit. Caught out again in bollocks, it’s getting longer by the post.”

Bubba, either post your “proof/evidence/documentation” of “moves being planned by the establishment” or forever shut the fuck up with your demands for “evidence” from others.

As an ex-teacher and coronavirus expert you DO HAVE that evidence – don’t you?
And we’re not talking about the opinion of some other random conspiracy theorist – understand?

Now I’m not even saying there are no “moves being planned” – that’s not what this is about.
This is purely to point out the fakery inherent to your constant tedious attempted defence of “prove it.”

      1. Listen fuckwit, all you ever do is make statements with no evidence. In meantime living a Walter Mitty style existence trying to convince those that are gullible enough to believe your constant stream of fantasy bullshit. Time to wise up, your not living in your make believe land.

  9. Steve H, 8.34 pm. So your making statements with no proof, no evidence, no documentation just the same old smear and bullshit. Caught out again in bollocks, it’s getting longer by the post. 🤥🤥🤥

    1. brianbotou – On the contrary I’ve posted evidence above + you’d have to be really f’ing stupid not to adopt a cautionary principle until it is proven either way.

This is what the CDC currently advises.
Recent evidence suggests that children likely have the same or higher viral loads in their nasopharynx compared with adults and that children can spread the virus effectively in households and camp settings .
      https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/pediatric-hcp.html

      1. Steve H, 9.06 pm . that is not evidence that’s an opinion from the CDC “ Recent evidence suggests “ is not a scientifically proven peer reviewed paper.

        Try again.

  10. Steve H. 8.51 pm.

Words such as : “ unclear, suggests, whether , likely, may ( repeated throughout the quote ) “ and phrases such as “ may have been, suggests that, likely have, may explain “ is not a demonstrative scientifically tested proof is it.

    It’s an opinion.

So you don’t have a peer reviewed scientifically tested paper.

    Try again.

      1. Steve H, 9.38 pm . usual bollocks and bluster with the ad hominem thrown in, when you have been caught out again making unsubstantiated concretely scientifically peer paper reviewed claims.

Just to remind you what the CDC is making as they state right at the top of “ It is unclear whether children can…” Not proven is it, just speculative claims. When you find a scientifically peer reviewed proven paper. Let me know !!!

  11. Steve H. 10.15pm More bollocks and bluster but no concrete proof. Caught out again making more superficial statements. When you find a scientific peer reviewed proven paper to substantiate your claims. Let me know.

      1. This is what a scientifically peer reviewed proven research paper looks like. Using phrases such a. “ It concluded THAT: CIGARETTE SMOKING IS A HEALTH HAZARD…”

Note. There is no speculation, no terms as “ Its unclear, may have been”

“The principal data on the death rates of smokers of various types and of nonsmokers come from 7 large prospective studies of men,” according to the 1964 surgeon general’s report. These studies, when combined, consisted of data from 1,123,000 men, more than half of whom came from the American Cancer Society’s Hammond-Horn Study and Cancer Prevention Study-I.

Terry published the final report January 11, 1964 – 50 years ago. It concluded that: “Cigarette smoking is a health hazard of sufficient importance in the United States to warrant appropriate remedial action.”

        https://www.cancer.org/latest-news/the-study-that-helped-spur-the-us-stop-smoking-movement.html

Offering unproven, speculative claims is not scientifically researched peer reviewed papers.

It appears your folly is believing claims is a substitute for concrete proof.

I hate to shatter your delusions but it is most definitely NOT !!!

      2. brianbotou – ⭐⭐⭐ – Well done – You’ve mastered the art of cut and paste – I am sure everyone will be very, very, very impressed. ⭐⭐⭐

  12. Steve H, 12.03am “ Offering unproven, speculative claims is not scientifically researched peer reviewed papers. “

“ It appears your folly is believing claims is a substitute for concrete proof. “

“ I hate to shatter your delusions but it is most definitely NOT!!!”

Still living in your propaganda driven delusional world 🙈🙊🙉

      1. Steve H, 12.30 am. I told you before your attempts at being an establishment propagandist are pretty dismal. Have some backbone for a change and tell your supervisor you are not up to the job.
