Additional 48hr window to register interest for summer NEC left slate before shortlisting poll is published

The SKWAWKBOX put out a call last week for Labour members who are interested to serve the movement on the party’s important National Executive Committee (NEC), so that a democratic ‘slate’ of left candidates can be put to the members in this summer’s election for nine NEC positions representing Labour’s grassroots membership.

The strong response to that call resulted in over forty registrations – but a significant number of people have said that they were unaware of the opportunity in time to register.

With the near-unanimous agreement of the 40 people who have already registered, an additional 48-hour window is therefore being opened for those who missed last week’s deadline, running until 9pm on Sunday 23 Feb.

Details of how to register your interest and of the next steps can be found here.

  1. I share Alec Issigonis’ view on committees so I’m afraid they’re going to have to manage without me.

    1. Committees are a bit like democracy … a crap idea that’s better than any other crap idea.
