Latest resignation raises further questions
In the last few minutes, Sandwell council’s deputy leader Syeda Khatun has resigned for unspecified ‘unforeseen personal reasons’. An email circulated to staff reads:

The council’s former leader Steve Eling, a close associate of right-wing Labour MP Tom Watson, was removed after being suspended by the Labour Party following a number of serious complaints. His successor Steve Trow resigned immediately after May’s local elections.
The council’s then-CEO, Jan Britton, resigned earlier this month days after being sent on ‘extended leave’ amid ‘serious concerns’.
The resignation of the remaining member of the leadership linked to Watson, Eling and Britton raises further questions.

Breaking news George Galloway to stand against tom watson for his mps seat.George will be on a Support corbyn ticket………..tricky one?
I don’t understand why you think this might be tricky. George will stand as an Independent and if Tom is not deselected he will stand as the Labour candidate. Voters will then decide who to elect. If Tom is deselected and a pro Corbyn candidate is nominated I assume George will withdraw his candidacy.
I’d like to see GG back in the party and in Parliament but we can’t lobby Labour members to vote for him, canvass for him or support him against a Labour candidate even if he swears on a stack of bibles he’ll support Corbyn as an independent.
I’d certainly argue for him to be readmitted to the Party though.
