Labour-backed climate-change protest in Parliament Square tonight at 5

Multiple groups, including Labour and Momentum, back protest

Labour and Momentum are backing a protest taking place this evening in Parliament Square in London, starting at 5pm. Details can be found here and the party is encouraging any who are able to join in.

Labour has forced a debate in Parliament today on a motion calling on the government to declare a climate and environmental emergency. Jeremy Corbyn has called on MPs to fulfil their ‘historic duty’ by backing the motion to make the UK the first country in the world to do so.

  1. Good event and particularly important in the light of today’s Heathrow ruling. However, viewed from here in France, where the world is at a standstill apart from the May Day demonstrations – and those not demonstrating are busy digging their gardens, Britain looks distinctly backward. It’s the first of two radical holidays in earlier May, to be followed next week by the celebration of Victory over Fascism. Will the up coming FA Cup final be accompanied by the Prime Minister being told to fuck off by 60,000 people? Somehow, I doubt it.

  2. Like I’ve said since 1968 – say what you like about the French, they do give good riot.
