Senior Sandwell councillor – no answer to falsification allegations

Sandwell council cabinet member Steve Trow has been accused by local Labour figures of falsifying minutes relating to a meeting that resulted in the suspension of a leading female councillor.

Minutes kept by Trow of a Labour group meeting to discuss then-councillor Richard Marshall’s behaviour – who had made lewd comments about colleagues via WhatsApp to a local blogger and became bankrupt after failing to repay around £40,000 to a local widow – stated that Cllr Yvonne Davies had constantly interrupted the meeting and impugned Marshall’s reputation.

Ms Davies was subsequently suspended from the Labour group. Witnesses at the meeting say the claim was completely false – and that she was bullied out of the meeting by Eling and others – and that the minutes were therefore falsified.

Yvonne Marshall was subsequently exonerated and reinstated by the party.

The SKWAWKBOX contacted Cllr Trow, an ally of suspended Sandwell council leader Steve Eling, on multiple occasions over the last week to ask for his comment on this and other complaints about him. He has failed to respond.
