Tweet about Streatham all-member vote may have won best of 2019 already

Earlier this evening, Streatham Labour members voted to switch to all-member meetings – in spite of fierce resistance by supporters of local centrist MP Chuka Umunna, who admitted they fear his deselection if members are enfranchised.

Less than an hour after the news started to circulate, a tweet by the well-known EL4C Twitter account may have won the 2019 internet before the first month was over.

The tweet made reference to Umunna’s enthusiasm for a so-called “people’s vote” in spite of the damage it would do to Labour’s prospects of government – although earlier this week he was part of a group forced into an embarrassing climb-down, admitting that a new referendum doesn’t have enough support in Parliament.
