Last month, the SKWAWKBOX showed that Cumbrian MP John Woodcock was still using Labour livery on his constituency office when he made a reportedly-rare appearance, organising a short drop-in session during the town’s Dickensian festival last weekend.
Mr Woodcock has finally updated his office’s exterior signage and removed the Labour branding – after a fashion. Rather than replace the signs with new ones reflecting his status as an independent MP since he resigned from the party rather than face a disciplinary process, red tape has been used to roughly mask the Labour wording:

Woodcock may still face issues with the Labour Party if the Labour red or its red/yellow combination have been registered to the party, but it seems that only the Labour rose has been so protected.
Still, it’s not the best look for an MP who reportedly hoped, when he resigned, that his departure would trigger a flood of fellow-centrists to join him.

What strange times we live in. We have one ex-Labour MP clinging on to his past association with the Labour Party and a current Labour MP (Leslie) desperately trying to disassociate himself from the party.

Woodcock is a charlatan, nothing more than a political mountebank, a third class snake oil salesman. The people of the Furness peninsula deserve better. In the very near future, he will end up the other side of Greenodd.
The people of Furness don’t deserve any better George, they voted the toe rag in, he always was a charletan, doesn’t like door knocking in the rain, oh dear.
I very much doubt that many of the good people of Furness voted for Woodcock’s personal qualities, they did however vote for the Labour Party candidate (regardless of who he/she was).
Any blame for Woodcock being in office lays firmly with those who selected him as Labour’s parliamentary candidate and not with the good voters of Furness. All they did was vote for the candidate that the Labour Party recommended. Would you rather they had voted Tory.

Getting ready for a general election?
Labour selected a candidate for this constituency?
Woodcock, Saudia Arabia and BAE, The boy is nothing more than a mercenary lickspitle looking out for the defence industry while masquerading as a concerned backbencher looking out for his constituents. Has he mentioned the dead, maimed and displaced from the war in Yemen? I think not.
It’s not just the rose that Labour has trademarked. Labour holds 17 trademarks. The problem is simple words like “Labour” cannot be trademarked, unless stylised in some way – eg a fancy “The Labour Party” was trademarked in 2009.
There are still many Centrist and Blairite MPs that have never accepted the democratic decision of the members for its leader so what are they still doing in the party? They need to be given the boot! Didn’t Jess Phillips say she she would consider resigning her seat if Corbyn won so why hasn’t she gone as well? CLPs need to wake up and deselect these traitors.
They’ll need to ask the NEC for permission first.
On the plus side, the tape would cost much less on expenses claim than exterior decoration of a constituency office (not sure if expenses are allowed for that anyway).

Blimey. Was happy to vote for the government amendment on contempt of parliament because I thought it was a better way to deal with this difficult issue but hey these are strange times.. 🤷🏻♂️
