Brent Central is already well represented in Parliament by the excellent Dawn Butler, but last night it took a strong turn to the left at local party level when the left won all but one of the CLP’s officer positions – and all of its ten delegate positions on the LCF (local campaign forum), which organises local selection processes and election campaigns.
As icing on the cake, the CLP also nominated all six candidates from the left slate in the NCC (National Constitutional Committee) elections.
The one position the left did not take was one for which it put up no candidate to challenge the incumbent.
Good times in the north-west London seat – and part of a continuing trend across the country as local parties are shaped into something more closely resembling Labour’s overwhelmingly left-wing, pro-Corbyn membership.
