MSM, politicos rush to share fake news re Patrick Stewart ‘quits’ Labour

Actor Sir Patrick Stewart has issued a tweet correcting reports that he had left the Labour Party:

Stewart later clarified that he had not been misquoted but that his comments had been misrepresented. You can say that again – the list of news outlets propagating the fake news was considerable:

Others, including an array of Labour right-wingers, were quick to join in spreading the false information for perceived political gain – either by retweets of the MSM accounts or, like these two, original ‘shares’:

Tory MP Ben Bradley, of course, has an unfortunate history with fake news on Twitter. So the SKWAWKBOX prepared an amended version for him just in case Sir Patrick decides to follow the Labour leader’s example in having him correct it:

The ‘MSM’ loves to accuse independent outlets, especially left independent outlets, of fake news – the BBC, without irony, even runs courses to teach children how to identify it – but in fact the mainstream media are, by a marathon’s distance, the biggest creators and propagators of fake news in the UK.
