‘Alternative-universe Newsnight’ video tells the reform our NHS really needs

viewsnight.png

Last week the BBC’s Newsnight programme broadcast an unchallenged opinion piece by opaquely-funded think-tank the IEA, which routinely promotes ‘reform’ of the NHS that appears to be all about privatisation and ‘americanisation’ of the NHS. NHS campaigners were not given any right of reply, let alone an uncontested slot of several minutes.

The video below, put together by Simon Baker of EL4C and featuring NHS campaigner Deborah Harrington, is what the programme might have shown if we lived in an alternative universe where the BBC was a genuinely impartial and objective broadcaster.

It tells a completely different story of the real reform the NHS needs:

Since we do not live in an alternative universe in which the BBC is genuinely impartial, it’s up to you to make sure this is seen as widely as it needs to be.

    1. Pete, if you see two images – it’s the second, lower one – worked fine for me on W7 x64 with Chrome.

Health professionals are articulate people – I wonder how many would welcome the opportunity to speak on camera if they were asked?
A hospital car park full of off-shift doctors speaking as one from an agreed script would be difficult to explain away as ‘a few malcontents’.

Wouldn’t want anyone to jeopardise their careers but one or two doctors speaking out every so often is too easily ignored by the media, the Tories and the public.

A sea of white coats explaining the stark reality would be something the MSM would have to pick up surely?

  1. WHICH NIGHT WAS THE PIECE ON NHS REFORM BY IEA BROADCAST? I NEVER WATCH IT EXCEPT TO COMPLAIN.
