MPs Coyle and Jones seen on Commons Terrace with suspended rape-tweeter McKenzie

Ian McKenzie, who previously conducted training for hard right faction Labour First, has been at the centre of controversy since the weekend, after images emerged of tweets he posted discussing the sale into slavery, gang-rape and beheading of Labour front-bencher Emily Thornberry:

Those tweets – potentially together with outstanding complaints against him for alleged anti-democratic practice in candidate selections in Lewisham – resulted in his suspension this week by the Labour Party.

McKenzie, who also resigned from a role as political advisor to Newham’s elected mayor Rokhsana Fiaz this week, has gone to the sympathetic press to attempt to justify his tweets, which caused widespread revulsion.

In spite of his suspension McKenzie was spotted this evening on the Terrace Bar at the House of Commons in the company of so-called ‘moderate’ MPs Neil Coyle and Graham Jones – both of whom have a less than blemish-free history on social media – and a Labour staffer.

Comment:

It seems MPs associating with suspended members is fine when it comes to right-wingers, but the appropriateness of socialising with someone suspended for such social media comments has to be highly questionable.

The SKWAWKBOX contacted Coyle and Jones for comment about their choice of drinking partner. Neither has responded so far.

  1. I am sure the constituents of Neil Coyle and Graham Jones will be horrified to learn their MPs are socialising with a person who has posted tweets discussing the Labour Shadow Foreign Secretary being raped, beheaded and thrown into a mass grave.

    Absolutely horrified and disgusted.
