Andrew Adonis is a blairite life peer so dedicated to the good fortunes of the Labour Party and the people who depend on it that in 2015 he resigned the Labour whip to sit as a ‘crossbench’ peer with no party allegiance, having decided to serve Tory chancellor on a committee.
In July, he managed to wriggle back into the party and has now decided that he’s an expert on Labour leadership:
As someone whose loyalty to blairism – and for that matter to a Tory chancellor – has already been proven to be far stronger than his loyalty to the party, you might think Adonis would realise the wisdom of silence.
And you’d at least think he wouldn’t set himself up for a thorough schooling, which the @LabourLeft twitter account soon provided:
Of course, Attlee, Wilson and so on didn’t have a bunch of disloyal relics to deal with who have no compunction about whining and briefing to a hostile media, either. So Corbyn’s surge up to the General Election – and continuing since to be well ahead of the Tories – is a triumph of integrity and popular will over disloyalty within and unprincipled media without.
Corbyn’s performance has so terrified the Tories that many are saying that the only thing that matters now is stopping him. Changing leader would be an act of such colossal idiocy that only those who don’t give a toss for anything but their own factional interest could even think it.
But there you go.
Adonis has since issued a string of tweets trying to justify his original statement – as well as fighting against Labour’s electoral strength on a separate front with some Brexit-based blather.
But it can’t obscure the fact that he opened his mouth only to insert a big, disloyal and counterproductive foot in it.
Par for the blairite course, then.

He’s now blocked me. He’s a spent force and just hitting out because his own personal gravy train will be pulling into the sidings along with his ability to influence. Corbyn threatens that.
That said, it will irk many people that he is where he is now through favours, and still commands £300 per day out of our pockets.
If Blair is ever punished for his war crimes, then this particular associate should pay a price also.

I heard him on Any Questions this week saying that we need Margaret Thatcher back. He is a Tory in Blue Labour clothes. A frustrated Blair sycophant who, like his hero, still thinks he is “in power”. A weather vane politician who is very confused about his political allegiance.
A thoroughly horrible creature, yet depressingly typical of the breed.
While the current focus is on securing and expanding member’s franchise within the party, Jeremy’s reformist-minded supporters should keep HoL reform firmly in mind as a longer term goal.

I wish somone could explain to me why right-wingers like Adonis are allowed to creep back into the Labour Party, after boldy going over to serve with a Tory Chancellor?
Surely there’s something in the rules about this?
Also, why are the traitors to the party, like Adonis, still being allowed to collect a wage, especially in the light of their cowardly chopping-and-changing?

As far as the Labour Party Rightists/Blairites are concerned, all men/animals are indeed equal, but some are more equal than others. Given McNicol & his Stasi Unit within Labour Party HQ has been using arcane rules to suspend/ban any person they deem as being ‘pro-democracy’ via the ‘two year Rule’, that is, any statement made within two years of application to join Labour, deemed ‘anti-Labour’ will be banned/barred, strange this does not apply to the Blairites/Bitterites. Still, as one of the ‘BANNED’ myself for the crime of allegedly posting a Pro-Green Party Tweet, whilst actually a bloody member of the Green Party, who subsequently re-applied to join Labour – they stole my 12 month subs though – one has only contempt for these buggers and arbitrary application of arcane Rules by those who detest democracy & democratic principles.
