Video: court may lift #Blair’s immunity to #warcrimes prosecution

The BBC and other mainstream media are highly unlikely to cover it, but Tony Blair could face prosecution for crimes of international aggression – war crimes to you and me – after all.

Sky apparently considers the matter unimportant:

You have to wonder whether Mr Boulton would be quite so relaxed about it if he were the one facing possible prosecution.

As the RT television station reports, private action is before a UK court to lift Blair’s immunity so that he can face prosecution based on the findings of the Chilcot Inquiry, which held that Blair’s military action in Iraq was not an action of last resort:

It is to be hoped that Blair will be held accountable for his actions and decisions at last.

  1. It’d be great if it got the go-ahead (And it bloody well should, along with a subsequent war crimes trial).

I’d love to see the smarmy, freeloading rat twitch on the end of a stout hemp rope. And his professionally ugly, freeloading tart….And boulton, while were at it.

Although he’ll slime his way out of this, too, I fear…

  2. Dear Skwawkbox,

Aberconwy CLP passed the following motion at our meeting in June. It was sent to Iain McNicol today for consideration by the NEC and I have permission to share it with you.

“This CLP believes it is unjust that a number of prominent Labour Party members seem immune from the disciplinary action faced by other members. Most notably, these include comments made by Tony Blair and Peter Mandleson on the record and in public.

This is not a question of factionalism, simply of the application of the same standards to all members. This is certainly not something that should cause any division, as we believe all Labour Party members wish to see fair play.

In an interview on the BBC’s World This Weekend in April 2017, Tony Blair was asked if voting to stop Theresa May forming a government could mean voting Lib Dem in a lot of cases, he said: “What I’m advocating may mean that. It may mean voting Labour. It may mean, by the way, that they vote Tory, for candidates…”. Please see: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/apr/23/tony-blair-vote-tory-or-lib-dem-where-they-are-open-minded-on-brexit

In February 2017 Peter Mandelson was recorded saying quite openly (in the House of Lords) that he tries to undermine Jeremy Corbyn “every single day”. Jeremy Corbym is, of course, the twice-elected Leader of the Labour Party. Please see: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/feb/21/peter-mandelson-i-try-to-undermine-jeremy-corbyn-every-day

This CLP therefore asks the NEC to require the General Secretary to investigate and take any appropriate disciplinary action against Tony Blair and Peter Mandleson for public comments such as the examples above.”

We hope that by sharing this, other CLPs may be encouraged to follow suit, increasing the chance of this motion being considered (though, realistically, given the current state of the NEC, it’s extremely unlikely to happen, but, what the hey, you’ve got to try, huh?).

In addition to this, we are excited to say that 3 out of 4 of the CLPs along the coast of NW Wales (Aberconwy, Clwyd West and Ynys Mon) have had their AGMs and all now have a slate of left-wing members. Arfon will have their AGM on the 15th of this month and we have high hopes for their success, too.

As far as delegates go, only one Progress member has made it through selection (Clwyd West) and he will be mandated (and watched!).

  3. Is Blair claiming immunity via the MP’s vote in Parliament to attack Iraq? Does he not know that MP’s voted on the basis of phoney baloney ‘evidence’ cooked up by Blair and his warmongers? Never mind arrest he should be dragged before the House and made to answer for his lies. THEN he can be arrested!
