As the SKWAWKBOX showed yesterday, Theresa May unforgivably used the Grenfell Tower tragedy as cover for her inability to reach an agreement with the DUP’s Arlene Foster, by claiming the further delay in the announcement of a deal was because of the terrible fire.
Foster flew home to Northern Ireland and the Tories claimed juniors were hashing out the final details.
But this morning, the Conservatives are spreading word to their activists to prepare for a new General Election – which can only mean there is no deal, or at best a slim and receding prospect of one.
Arch-Tory site Guido Fawkes gave the game away:
Of course, the article does not admit it’s because May is useless and the DUP negotiations are failing, but he does make the astonishing claim that CCHQ (Tory headquarters) were ‘caught unprepared’ by May’s announcement of the last election:
The carefully-crafted and completely false Tory reputation for competence lies well and truly in tatters. There is simply no way the Cons would be calling a new election if there was any way they could cling to power – as a leading Tory think-tank admitted this week, the Tories cannot afford another election with May as leader and they have no one they think can beat Corbyn:
One thing is absolutely clear, if/when a new election is called, voters hoping for a leader who can actually negotiate with the EU and a party who has a clue what they’re doing, will be voting Labour. If May can’t negotiate successfully with a fellow conservative who stands to gain hugely from a deal, she’s got less chance than a snowflake in hell or reaching a bearable deal with 27 EU leaders.
Jeremy Corbyn was absolutely right to tell his MPs on Tuesday to stay in election mode – looks like May’s house of cards is about to fall.

Why won’t May just concede that she has no mandate and resign, then JC can form a new government. Back in 1974 Heath had to give up after a week of scrabbling for support to form a workable government.

T. May has to go. There is something very wrong about her. I feel, as far as she is sitting on a chair of PM something worse may take place. Corby has to take over her for any deal for EU and the Country. Why she continue as PM. She must know by now, she is incompetent.
