Pitt, Phoenix, Mara sign up for Hind Rajab film

Film about 6yo girl murdered with her family by more than 350 tank bullets through her car gets backing from Hollywood stars

Actors Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara have signed up as executive producers of The Voice of Hind Rajab, the film about the six-year-old Palestinian girl and her family who were murdered in Gaza in January 2024 by an Israeli tank that fired more than three hundred and fifty machine-gun bullets through their car. Hind’s terrified final phone call with an emergency response coordinator, as her family lay dead or dying around her and the ambulance crew that tried to rescue her was slaughtered, broke hearts around the world and exposed the genocidal murderousness of the colonial occupation,

The trio join Oscar-winning directors Jonathan Glazer and Alfonso Cuarón as executive producers. The film, which will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival early next month, is directed by Oscar-nominated Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania. It portrays Hind’s final hours and last conversation while trapped in a car, with the tank circling it, and is in the running for the prestigious Golden Lion award.

The film, shot entirely in one location to mirror the plight of the child stranded in the ruined car, will premiere on 3 September and the film’s star backing will cause much grinding of teeth among Israel’s dwindling but highly-funded band of apologists and supporters.
