FOI demand in Israel reveals how many are happy to cosy up to Israeli ambassador despite genocide incitement
Far-right Israeli ambassador Tzipi Hotovely is notorious for comments justifying the destruction of Gaza’s schools, hospitals and homes, telling LBC that “every school, every mosque, every second house” in Gaza is cover for Hamas tunnels and is a legitimate target, and that “all” Hamas command headquarters are in Gaza’s hospitals – a long disproven lie.
This has not prevented the UK government consulting with her and her staff about which anti-genocide protesters to prosecute or ban, stopped a string of Labour MPs and ministers cosying up to her during Israel’s genocide in Gaza. or prevented the BBC kowtowing to her demands for censorship of its coverage of Israel’s slaughter and starvation of Palestinians.
And now a Freedom of Information request in Israel by Hatzlacha NGO lawyer Elad Man has exposed Hotovely’s diary and passed it to Declassified UK – and it reveals a procession of Labour donors, MPs, lobby groups and businesspeople holding meetings – often repeatedly – with her, including some of the most notorious pro-Israel and anti-left figures of the past decade:
• Israel fanatic and now MP Luke Akehurst
• Government minister Lisa Nandy
• Michael Rubin, ‘star’ of Al Jazeera’s undercover documentary ‘The Lobby’
• Conservative and Labour ‘Friends of Israel’ representatives, including MP and LFI chair Jon Pearce and CFI president Lord Polak, who described becoming a peer as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” to promote Israel
• Israeli venture capitalist and massive Labour-right donor Stuart Roden, who has accused anti-genocide protesters of murdering children
• Jonathan Goldstein, funder of Foreign Secretary David Lammy and mate of Keir Starmer – accompanying Starmer to football matches on free tickets
• business bosses investing in and doing business with Israel during the genocide
• Pro-Israel propagandists and PR specialists
