Legal protest rights website taken down, depriving thousands of legal advice

Government or Israel lobby breaking anti-terror laws to use anti-terror laws against protest and freedom of speech

The defendourjuries.org website has been disabled by apparent government legal threat to the site’s hosting provider.

The site provided legal advice to those affected by the government’s ‘lawfare’ war on freedom of speech and protest about Israel’s genocide in Gaza, informed potential jurors about their rights in court to decide their verdict regardless of orders and pressure from the Establishment – and also campaigned for the de-proscription of Palestine Action, the anti-genocide direct action group banned as a terrorist organisation in an unprecedented, and Israel-lobby-driven, move last month that makes support for it a criminal offence punishable by up to fourteen years imprisonment.

How the Defend Our Juries site looked before the take-down.

As the group behind the site explained this evening in a short thread of X posts, the take-down – through implied legal threat to the hosting company, either from the government or an Israel lobby group – attempts to deprive potentially thousands of people of information on their legal rights:

And, as the group pointed out, the Terrorism Act 2000 that the government has weaponised against peaceful protest, free speech and even journalism exposing Israel’s crimes explicitly permits organising and applying for a proscribed group to be de-proscribed:

Juries have exercised their right to acquit in trials of anti-genocide activists – and last year the government attempted to jail a pensioner who stood outside a court reminding jurors of their legal right to acquit, forcing a judge to throw out the Crown’s case on the grounds that it cannot possibly be perverting the course of justice to remind jurors of their rights under law.

  1. Yet another example of TOTAL loss of democracy. Oh how I remember those fools who informed us to “Just get Starmer in Number 10 and give him a chance so that we can hold his feet to the fire.” Some feet, some fire.

    1. The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.

      1. The truest words ever spoken on the true nature of our, not the Ancient Greeks’, “democracy”. I have them framed on the wall of my loo! Top quote, NVLA!

  2. OVERREACH
Sure, Starmer and his anti-dissent, authoritarian mindset is an attack on liberty, democracy and human rights. Starmer uses ‘lawfare’ to achieve his oppressive, anti-democratic, authoritarian objectives.

Sure, he is the most dangerous person ever to have claimed occupation of 10 Downing Street. ‘Lawfare’ for Starmer is simply the weaponisation of law, legal systems and institutions to achieve his political objectives. He uses it clumsily like an adolescent boy alter boy trying to masturbate on the alter during mass without being noticed.

He wants to suppress dissent or political opposition, but it just isn’t working.

The arrest of Judi Warner simply for holding a sign about jury rights was recognised by campaigners and lawyers as an act of ‘ anti-democratic ‘lawfare’ and his Terrorist proscription of Palestine Action without trial has already been acknowledged by the High Court as judicial and political “Overreach”.

Defendourjuries.org is on strong-ground against Starmer and the Labour Right’s lawfare “Overreach”. Support them, support Palestine, support our own democratic rights: Starmer seems to be against them all.

Britain’s homelessness minister increased the rent on a house she owns by hundreds of pounds, allegedly “within weeks” of the previous tenants’ contract ending.

The i Paper, external reported that four tenants who rented a house owned by Rushanara Ali in East London were sent an email last November giving them four months’ notice that their lease would not be renewed.

It says the property was re-listed shortly after the tenants moved out, at a rent that was £700 a month higher.

Ali is Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Homelessness and Rough Sleeping. A spokesman said: “Rushanara takes her responsibilities seriously and complied with all relevant legal requirements.”

A source close to the homelessness minister said it had been a fixed-term contract and that the house had been put up for sale while the tenants were there.

They said the tenants had been told they could stay on a rolling basis while the house was on the market, but they had chosen to go.

The i Paper said it had also been told the house was only re-listed as a rental because it had not sold.

The property in question was put on the market in November 2024 with an asking price of £914,995 but was reduced in February by £20,000.

Ben Twomey, chief executive of campaign group Generation Rent, said: “These allegations are shocking and a wake-up call to government on the need to push ahead as quickly as possible to improve protections for renters.

“It is bad enough when any landlord turfs out their tenant to hike up the rent, or tries their luck with unfair claims on the deposit, but the minister responsible for homelessness knows only too well about the harm caused by this behaviour.”

Conservative MP Ben Obese-Jecty said: “Rushanara Ali’s position surely cannot be tenable. She must resign.”

Asked about the Ali’s actions, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: “I don’t know any of the the details of this but I understand she has followed all the rules in this case.”

According to her parliamentary register of interests,, external Ali owns three properties in London, one of which is co-owned with a family member.

    One word.

    PARASITE.

Essentially ali’s done the same shithouse trick as fire and rehire – only with her tenants.

And of all the scumbags to ask about housing, they ask mizz balls – serial house-flipper, leeching expenses from the taxpayer along with her media whore and weirdo betrothed.

    One parasite defending another.

…Not to mention the balls’ diversion of a hotel discount for guests to pay for their wedding.

…And the weirdo claiming a remembrance Sunday wreath on expenses.

Won’t be long before mentioning things like these become proscribed.

    1. “Won’t be long before mentioning things like these become proscribed.”

I take it you mean Incitement to embarrass a member of the (self-defined) elite aggravated by terrorism?

      1. It would be, Dave.

But the freeloading bastards have zero shame.

  4. Over to Novara Media on the role of former head of the British army and now member of the House of Lords, Lord Dannatt on behalf of a US Company whose Welsh plant had been targeted by Palestine Action:

  5. Just came across this Guardian article via the Organic Consumers Association, posted yesterday:

Chemical pollution a threat comparable to climate change, scientists warn

More than 100 million ‘novel entity’ chemicals are in circulation, with health impact not widely recognised

Chemical pollution is “a threat to the thriving of humans and nature of a similar order as climate change” but decades behind global heating in terms of public awareness and action, a report has warned.

The industrial economy has created more than 100 million “novel entities”, or chemicals not found in nature, with somewhere between 40,000 and 350,000 in commercial use and production, the report says. But the environmental and human health effects of this widespread contamination of the biosphere are not widely appreciated, in spite of a growing body of evidence linking chemical toxicity with effects ranging from ADHD to infertility to cancer…..

    1. And just spotted this in The Most Viewed articles list, posted half-an-hour ago:

Amnesty urges Met police not to arrest protesters supporting Palestine Action

Rights group warns freedom of expression could be violated, as first people are charged with showing support for banned organisation

Amnesty International has warned the Met police against arresting participants protesting this Saturday in London in support of Palestine Action, as the first people were charged for showing support for the banned group.

Two women and a man who were arrested in Westminster after a protest in central London on 5 July will appear in court on 16 September.

Jeremy Shippam, 71, of West Sussex, Judit Murray, also 71, of Surrey, and Fiona Maclean, 53, of Hackney, north-east London, were charged with showing support for a proscribed organisation under section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

A total of 10 people have been charged across the UK for suspected offences under the Terrorism Act since the proscription of Palestine Action, counter-terrorism police said on Thursday….

Cooper said on Wednesday night that the decision to proscribe was based on strong security advice and the unanimous recommendation by the expert cross- government proscription review group.

“It also follows disturbing information referencing planning for further attacks, the details of which cannot yet be publicly reported due to ongoing legal proceedings,” she added.

“Those who seek to support this group may yet not know the true nature of the organisation. But people should be under no illusion – this is not a peaceful or non-violent protest group.”

The proscription decision was not about Palestine, she added, and did not affect the freedom to protest about Palestinian rights.

“It only applies to the specific and narrow organisation, Palestine Action, whose activities do not reflect or represent the thousands of people across the country who continue to exercise their fundamental rights to protest on different issues.”

These people are in effect the descendents of the nazis, and they are increasingly openly acting like nazis. Hopefully millions more people have had their eyes opened during the past twenty-one months on account of Gaza, to just who and what they are, and we have to do all we can to open the eyes of the rest, and do so by exposing their lies and falsehoods, and how THEY have been duped and deceived and misled and manipulated by the nazi shit and their propaganda machine.
