‘Shocking’ yes, sinister yes, surprising no
Rabidly Zionist Murdoch hack Melanie Phillips is no stranger to Islamophobia or to obscene takes on Gaza, having earlier this year penned an article titled “If you support the Palestinian cause in any form, you are facilitating Jew-hate”:

Her approach is not a new phenomenon. Fourteen years ago she left the Tory Spectator under a suspected cloud after the magazine was repeatedly forced to apologise for Islamophobic smears:
More recently, Phillips has argued that there is no such thing as Islamophobia and that it is just a tool to quell criticism of Muslims – though she does not make the same equation for antisemitism:
Throughout her career she has been accused of racism, including claiming that racist police ‘stop and search’ practices were actually good for young black men and the Black Lives Matter movement:
But Ms Phillips has ‘jumped the (Zionist) shark’ even by her standards with her comment on Friday that paints Jews as a “threat to the Jewish people”.
Phillips is so appalled by the fact that Muslim mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, an open opponent of Israel’s genocide and the only Democratic party prospect who refused to say he would make a pilgrimage to Israel if elected, has a huge lead among New York Jews that she ranted that the “moment has arrived” when “US Jews” “become a threat to the Jewish people”.
Yes, that’s really what she said:
Anti-Zionist Jewish leader Leah Levane described Phillips’s comment as “so shocking”, which it undoubtedly is, but it’s no surprise.
Phillips’s visceral hatred of the left is well known – not that the Democratic party is anything like left-wing but still it’s too much for Phillips to suffer. During Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour party she was at the forefront of the antisemitism smear scam, claiming for example that Corbyn becoming leader in the first place was the result of left-wing antisemitism, describing Labour as a “cesspool of antisemitism” and heartily promoting the narratives of other notorious smearers.
But to claim that Jews have become a “threat to the Jewish people” for supporting an anti-genocide candidate? Could that be any more sinister?

As a Brit, I can criticise our own country, its actions and the actions of people within it, especially politicians. I can go back further and criticise kings and nobles and decisions they made. I can criticise individuals, organisations, the military, companies, bosses, greedy people, the education system, the health system etc etc. Why does she believe that we cannot take the same attitude to the genocidal state?

She is of course totally evil. Evil to the core of her being. And so there are no limits to who she smears and demonises and fraudulently paints as being a threat. Jeremy being a perfect example.
And anyone who believes such propaganda garbage is either completely divorced from reality, or just pretending that they believe her.
She has built an entire career in being controversial and confrontational, from the point of view of a journalist against whom no ordinary person has a platform. I view her rather like actors view critics … someone who couldn’t do anything positive, but loves criticising those who can do, and do every day. A kind of Ofsted inspector gone even further rogue.

I’m sure you’re right. The problem with that analysis being that as humans we frequently draw equivalence between groups, somewhat like “All Staffordshire bull terriers are dangerous,” when many are not. But we do the same with groups of people. How often do we hear generalisations such as “The British” or “Americans,” “Liverpudlians,” or “Yorkies,” or (my own bete-noir) “Boomers,” even though there was never such a thing in the UK, and we children of the bulge never did what some mis-informed Gen B, C, or D, accuse us of as a group. It’s something we do (and is frequently done down here!) especially where something bad happens and there is a significant majority who support it. Unfortunately every poll that comes out shows a significant majority of Israelis back the genocide and the ill-treatment/murder of Palestinians.

This is a glaring example of the corruption of “The Citizens United” legislation proving that special interest money in the form of ‘Israeli first’ Billionaires forming a group to destroy a candidate who does not put Israel first.
Trump assigned his top political operatives Tony Fabrizio and Chris LaCivita to start and run the super PAC. LaCivita told Axios the entity will spend “whatever it takes” to oust Massie.
Of course this will be preceded by the election of the excellent Mamdani in New York, another one to watch.
