Protection of Israel from scrutiny continues
The Cyprus government has aligned itself with the genocidal Israeli state by arresting three activists who flew the Palestine flag above the new Limassol stadium during a match tonight between Pafos FC and Maccabi Tel Aviv that should have never taken place:
Maccabi Tel Aviv’s deeply racist fan base hit the headlines late last year when they terrorised the city of Amsterdam, then played the victims with the collusion of Dutch and European governments and media.
Maccabi supporters are notorious for their racist chants – and the impunity they enjoy as they rampage during away games.

I would have expected from Cypriots to show solidarity towards the Palestinians taken into consideration that the north of the island is still under Turkish occupation since 1973.
But, perhaps since the majority of the population in the north of the island is ethnic Turkish and Turkish speaking rather than Greek, perhaps the fact that Turkey supports the Palestinian make the Cypriots support Israel.
Still, nobody of conscience and morality should be supporting Israel.
Maria, The Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Cyprus are two separate entities. The offending party here is the EU- and UN-member state, the Republic of Cyprus (Roc).
FWIW, it’s not only Palestine that is marginalised and unrecognised by ‘the west’, TRNC too: A 2-state solution isn’t properly considered by ‘the west’ for either.
