Video: Audrey White and others arrested for Palestine Action protest released on bail

Audrey White gives a thumbs-up to gathered supporters around midnight last night.

As Skwawkbox reported yesterday, Mersey Pensioners Association activist Audrey White and three others were arrested yesterday during Liverpool’s weekly march in solidarity with the Palestinian people and against Israel’s genocide in Gaza, for opposing the Starmer regime’s Israel lobby-driven proscription (banning as a terrorist group) or anti-genocide direct action group Palestine Action (PA). White, 76, was arrested roughly and carried away bodily in shocking but unsurprising scenes.

Last night, all four were released on police bail and emerged to a loud welcome from supporters:

The other arrestees included White’s brother Mark Holt, a long-time Palestine activist and former ‘Gaza Freedom Flotilla’ crew member.

Skwawkbox understands that Ms White is awaiting medical attention for the after-effects of the violent arrest. During the Labour party leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, she was a frequent target of the pro-Israel right and the victim of a ‘litany of lies’ by ‘dauphin of phone-hacking’ Lee Harpin in the ‘Jewish Chronicle’ and successfully sued the right-wing paper for libel, receiving ‘substantial’ damages.

In 2022 White, who was played by Glenda Jackson in the prize-winning 1988 film Business as Usual inspired by her union activism for women workers, left Keir Starmer almost unable to speak when she cornered him in a Liverpool cafe and gave him a large dose of hard truths. Starmer had sneaked into the city for secret meetings.

The High Court is today hearing an application brought by PA co-founder Huda Ammori for a judicial review of the proscription order, which Ammori’s barristers have told the court has made the UK an ‘outlier’ in international law by treating a protest group as terrorists. As well as imposing the proscription after demands from notorious pro-Israel pressure groups, the UK government has been caught involving the Israeli embassy in decisions about which activists and protesters to prosecute.

    1. This hearing is proceeding but as Dave shows Justice Chamberlain says the police are getting it wrong & just as an update I have heard the case in Leeds against a former Header Teacher for holding a placard, a print of a Private Eye piece, has been completely dropped.
Interesting that Justice Chamberlain says the police are getting it wrong which I have been arguing but after his proscription ruling and a certain group were proscribed at that moment, the eminent Judge went on to declare that we as protesters still have a right to criticise Israel on what we believe is a Genocide and on other violations of international law in private conversations, in print, on social media AND ON PROTESTS!
But in giving this fine clarification he actually named a group that had just become proscribed.
      I ask the eminent Judge:
If I carry a placard with Justice Chamberlain’s quote next Saturday with the current state of police ignorance of the actual law will we both be arrested?

  1. Oh and Audrey & the others are brave fighters for diverse working class people here & for the oppressed around the world and particularly for Palestinians at this moment in time so hope they are all ok.
We need all our fighters on the streets now for Palestine.

  2. Mea while, it appears two idf soldiers were arrested in Belgium t’other day on Suspicion of war crime offences…

Belgian federal police have arrested and interrogated two Israeli soldiers credibly accused of war crimes in Gaza, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) announced on 21 July, marking the first time Israeli suspects linked to crimes in Gaza have been subjected to formal arrest and questioning.

Apparently they were collared after waving the flag of an idf battalion known to have taken part in war crimes.

Of course, after typing ‘israeli soldiers arrested in belgium” into the searchbar, all the links to the Jewish rags all have them complaining of being beaten before interrogation.

Oh dear. I’m positively gutted for them. In the exact same way as keef and the uncle tom find ibf genocidal action appalling then I must vehemently tut and wag my finger.

Well played, Belgium, HRF , and GLAN. 👍

  3. And I just gotta smirk at this whining prick on twotter

🔴 Deeply troubling: Two Israelis — an IDF soldier and a civilian — were detained in Belgium after an anti-Israel NGO accused them of war crimes.

They were in the country as tourists attending the Tomorrowland music festival. Belgian authorities acted on the complaint under a new 2024 law that allows prosecution for international crimes, even with no direct connection to Belgium.

This may be a foreshadowing of what’s to come — weaponized lawfare against Israelis abroad.

Get to fuck, perpetual victim. Go on, fuck RIGHT off.
