Israel just slaughtered hundreds more innocents in Gaza. Here are some of their names and stories

Israel’s genocide doesn’t stop; the numbers are horrific but they are not mere numbers

With the world ‘mainstream’ media’s eyes diverted to Iran – and never too interested in reporting Israel’s crimes in Gaza anyway – Israel has continued to accelerate its slaughter and starvation of the Palestinian people of Gaza. Hundreds have been murdered in just the last couple of days, bombed and shot – many of them as they tried desperately to get food for themselves and their families.

The ‘mainstream’ media gives the names of Israelis killed and treats the Palestinians as an amorphous, less significant mass, but their humanity matters. Below are some of their names and stories – along with a few people who survived against the odds.

Near Gaza City, the entire al-Jamal family was wiped out, an entire line gone forever, including children:

Near the Nuseirat refugee camp, baby Karma was killed by an Israeli bomb. Her family said goodbye to her:

Baby Muneer al-Qrinawi was named after his grandfather, who was murdered by Israel a few months ago. The occupation bombed their home in Bureij – miraculously, baby Muneer survived, but his mother was killed as she held him in her arms. Seven other members of his family were murdered in the strike:

3yo Hassan weighed half of his proper body weight. Like many other children, Hassan died yesterday because of Israel’s starvation blockade on Gaza and its refusal to allow formula into Gaza. Volunteer doctor Mark Brauner told a TV interviewer about Hassan’s death and the Israeli refusal to allow baby formula in despite doctors’ desperate pleas:

A little girl survived a bombing in Gaza City that killed those around her, but was wounded by flying debris. The volunteer paramedic trying to calm her is telling her, “Don’t be afraid my child..! No..no..no.. there’s shrapnel.. there’s shrapnel.. don’t be afraid, my child.. just don’t move.. don’t move, my child.. don’t move.. don’t worry.. don’t worry. I swear by Allah, you’re fine.. it’s just a piece of wood in your leg, my child. It’s fine.. it’s fine.. here we’re going to remove it. Alright, we’ve almost reached the hospital, my child.. we’ve almost reached, my child. We’re going to remove it and that’s all”:

And the slaughter was not only in Gaza. 15yo Rayyan Thamer Hoshiye was killed by the occupation in the Al-Yamun, near Jenin in the occupied West Bank, on the twelfth day since Israel invaded and locked down the West Bank:

This is everyday reality for the people of Gaza. Teacher Farida spoke of the heartbreaking reality of being a teacher in Gaza – not the dearth of supplies or having to teach in a tent, but watching children vanish from your classroom as they are killed by the genocidal occupiers:

The statistics of Israel’s slaughter in Gaza are horrifying – almost 400,000 murdered since October 2023 – but the numbers tell an inadequate story. Every one of those victims was a human being with hopes, dreams, relationships and a story. Tell those stories and don’t let them be just numbers.
