Israeli lobby melts down as Muslim socialist Mamdani who’d arrest Netanyahu romps Dem mayor primary

Genocide-apologist rants make pro-Palestine left-winger’s win even sweeter – but watch out for dirty tricks

Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani has romped home in the Democratic party’s ‘primary’ to select its candidate to stand in the New York City mayoral election, leading by such a margin that former New York governor Andrew Cuomo quickly conceded in the first round. Even in conservative areas, like Staten Island, Mamdani ran Cuomo close and led by a distance in other districts.

Zohran Mamdani in action.

The win has triggered an absolute melt-down among the US Israel lobby, after Mamdani was the only candidate in the contest to say he would not visit Israel if he becomes mayor, because he wants to focus on serving the people of New York:

And, even more so because Mamdani has sponsored pro-Palestinian legislation in New York’s state assembly and says openly that New York under his leadership will arrest wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu if Netanyahu enters its jurisdiction:

Cue deranged, ridiculous and often antisemitic raving among the US Israel lobby, which unequivocally equated Zionism – and therefore Israel’s genocide – with the ‘fundaments of Judaism’ and predicted a ‘new 9/11 attack’ because of his selection, as well as urging Jews to ‘evacuate NYC’:

But the news caused jubilation among voters, especially younger people:

Mamdani’s win sends a strong message from voters to a Democratic party establishment that seems determined not to oppose fascist Donald Trump in any meaningful way, that people want a real difference, not just a change of rosette. But the same Democratic party that nobbled Bernie Sanders when he was favourite to stand in 2016 and the most likely to beat Trump in that election is unlikely to simply stand aside now, so Mamdani’s supporters are alert for dirty tricks, including the possibility that Cuomo might run as an independent in an attempt to split the vote and gift the far-right Republicans a win.

  1. Zohran Mamdani – I think I love you brother! Well done. Live Long and prosper – for Peace, Socialism and the democracy you serve.

Your fantastic success in New York is the reason why (the vile) Keir Starmer expelled Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour Party in May 2024. Solidarity.

  2. We have the experience on how the right of the Labour Party engineered:
    – The antisemitism narrative against Corbyn
    – Support for the ” People´s Vote” and the “Constructive ambiguity”
It was this two pronged attack that cost us the 2019 General Election. It became clear that the right of the Labour Party preferred a Conservative government, that a government lead by Corbyn.
Hence, watch out the right of the Democratic Party as most likely they will prefer a Republican Major in New York than Mamdani.
My advice to Mamdani, learn the lessons from Corbyn´s defeat and emulate the stand of Pedro Sánchez at the last Spanish General Election in 2023.
Rather than apologising or trying to distant himself from the meme of the PP: ” que te vote Chapote” Chapote been a member of ETA that benefited from a PSOE early realise from jail. The left ignored and responded with the meme: ” Que te vote el narco del bote” alluding to pictures of the leader of the PP with Marcial Dorado (narco trafficant) while on holidays on Dorado´s yatch.
When the right started calling him ” Perro (dog) Sánchez” Sánchez responded by wearing on his lapped ” Soy Perro Sánchez” his wife ” I am the wife of Perro Sánchez” and his supporters ” I support perro Sánchez”

      1. It is too late but, I believe that if Corbyn instead of apologising to the BoB had counter attacked with for example a meme ” I have been branded antisemite because I stand firm against British paedophiles” Indirectly referencing Ghislaine Maxwell the girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein and under investigation for paedophilia at the time. While the connections to the labour party of the Maxwell family were well known.
Epstein did commit suicide in August 2019, so just in time for the General Elections in November. I believe that if instead of apologising Corbyn did come back fighting against the antisemitism smears, the smears would have stopped.
In relation to the People´s vote and the Constructive ambiguity Corbyn should have stated that it wasn´t a constructive approach and instead start presenting his vision of Brexit.

  3. The $60m Mamdani mentions going to settlements almost matches the $61m cuomo its been said has cost New York to defend his multiple scandals.

    From cuomos wiki page…

According to the Comptroller of New York State, the total costs relating to the investigations and legal cases from Cuomo’s multiple scandals, had reached around $61 million by March 2025.[321][322] State law requires the state to pay for the legal costs incurred by current and former state officials, for any court cases relating to conduct that official has done while in office.[322][323] Part of the legal costs involve 16 different private law firms, for which the state was given a discounted rate.[323] These legal and investigative costs have become controversial as the costs would have to be paid by the general public via taxes, and that there is no legal limit to how much money Cuomo could ask the state to cover in legal costs.[323][324]

In 2022, the New York State Attorney General attempted to prevent the state from being required to pay for a portion of Cuomo’s legal fees relating to the sexual misconduct scandal.[325] The Attorney General’s spokesperson argued that “Sexually harassing young women who work for you is not part of anyone’s job description. Taxpayers should not have to pony up for legal bills…”[325] Others said another reason was due to the lack of oversight as to how Cuomo’s lawyers requested gynecological and other tests (which according to the law, the state must also pay) for the women in the sexual misconduct scandal, which many considered as harassing and intimidating the accusers.[321][326] However, Cuomo went to court where he would successfully sue the AG, claiming that the state was required to pay for those legal fees.[327][328]

The legal costs are expected to rise further, as Cuomo has opened a new lawsuit against the state comptroller on March 21, 2025, after rejecting to pay for a separate case against the AG that was dismissed by the court a month before.[329] Cuomo claims that he is entitled for the state to pay for his case because it involves activity that occurred when he was in office.

  4. Call Netanyahu a war criminal on the grounds he has clearly committed war crimes? That’s always going to be dismissed as antisemitism.
