Video: Israel says it will attack Freedom Flotilla vessel Madleen

‘We have gained experience in recent years’, says Israel general in chilling apparent reference to murder of ten crew of previous flotilla

The Gaza Freedom Flotilla (GFF), whose vessel Madleen is en route to Gaza bearing food, medicines and other essential supplies for the besieged Palestinian people suffering under Israel’s illegal starvation blockade after the ship’s predecessor Conscience was bombed by Israeli drones, has called for urgent support from the international community after an Israeli general indicated his forces are preparing to attack the ship, which has already been harassed nightly by drones.

GFF published a video including the colonial general’s comments:

The group also issued the following statement calling for ‘All Eyes on Deck’ for the Madleen and its crew of international volunteers:

As Israel threatens to attack the ‘Madleen’ as it sails towards Gaza, John Dugard, Professor Emeritus of international law and former UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, explains the illegality of an Israeli military intervention.

Volunteers onboard the ‘Madleen’ are urging people to pressure their governments to ensure their safe passage as they attempt to open a sea corridor to Gaza, especially as the situation on the ground there deteriorates. The ‘Madleen’ and the civilians on board are protected by international law and any attempts to block them will constitute an unlawful act of aggression against a civilian vessel. All Eyes On Deck.

GFF.

Prof John Dugard made clear that the Madleen and its crew are wholly on the right side.

Earlier today, the Madleen diverted to rescue Sudanese refugees, but were only able to get four on board after a Libyan Coast guard vessel intervened and dragged the raft away to deport those on it back to Sudan or to Libya, where they face torture and mortal danger. GFF said:

While en route to Gaza, the ‘Madleen’ responded to a mayday relay from a Frontex drone in the Central Mediterranean. ‘Madleen’ immediately contacted Greek and Egyptian authorities. However, both confirmed they were too far away to respond and advised the ‘Madleen’ to intervene if possible. After rescuing four people who jumped into the sea to escape the Libyan Coast Guard, the crew issued their own mayday. The rescued individuals had fled violence in Sudan and must not be returned to Libya, where they face detention and torture.

@RimaHas, member of European Parliament, aboard the ‘Madleen’, stated: “We denounce the European Union’s role in obstructing the movement of asylum seekers, in clear violation of international law—an approach that has led to the deaths of tens of thousands and turned the Mediterranean into a graveyard.”

GFF.

The Madleen is a British-flagged vessel, but ‘Zionist without qualification’ UK PM Keir Starmer has not said a word in defence or support of the ship and its crew, despite widespread calls to demand safe passage from Israel. If you have not already done so, or even if you have, write to your elected representative to demand they act and put pressure on government to intervene.

All eyes on the Madleen.

  1. They’re not just evil, they’re mad and blood thirsty with it. And that applies to most of the Israeli population if we take their outpourings and actions at face value! They have cast an evil shadow on their descendants forever.

    1. I think if it fits in with his intention then he is. He knows exactly what he is doing and why. He is as evil an entity as are those he unqualifiedly sides with. People like him should never be in a position of power is my view.

  2. ‘The good guys plough on bravely in a boat.
As lumpen Barbarians they froth & splutter.
Madleen is Humanity with the moral & political high ground.
As the uncivilised swim below and in the gutter.’
Go Madleen, sail safe, sail well!
The world is watching & the oppressed of the world are with you in spirit.

  3. Israel says it will attack Freedom Flotilla vessel Madleen

Well blow me down! Sadly, this will come as a surprise to many, maybe even to the crew themselves. I do hope, though, that they’ve taken rigorous security measures with them, if you knowworrimean. Anything less would make this a suicide mission, as anyone with a realist perspective would immediately see.

    God speed.

  4. It’s Starmer who comes out of this worst. “Zionist without qualification” despite knowing that Zionism is a racist, nationalist expression of settler colonialism, Keir Starmer is not only failing to speak out against an already-made threat by Israel against the Freedom Flotilla, he’s also failing to even acknowledge an open letter to himself as PM from Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Riz Ahmed, Paloma Faith, Annie Lennox, Massive Attack and c 300 other public figures urging him to end the UK’s complicity in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza..

Can he really be politically inept enough to ignore this letter or is Morgan McSweeney just doing a Dominic Cummings on him?
