Video: dozens killed as Israeli tanks, drones open fire on refugees at food distribution centre

US-Israeli ‘aid’ centre claims all went smoothly as at least 50 starving civilians massacred and hundreds wounded

At least 50 Palestinians were killed and hundreds others wounded on Sunday after Israeli tanks opened fire on civilians seeking aid at a US-Israeli-run, mercenary-operated ‘aid’ distribution site in Al-Mawasi, southern Gaza. The so-called ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’ (GHF) has been accused by Israeli lawmakers of being funded by Israel’s intelligence services and is being used as a tool for ethnic cleansing, forcing starving Palestinians to leave the rest of Gaza and enter ‘sterile zone’ concentration camps in the hope of receiving good.

Eyewitnesses said that large crowds had assembled at the GHF centre in the early hours of this morning, but as people approached the site Israeli tanks and drones fired and dropped explosives on the crowd. The local International Red Cross/Red Crescent has reported at least 50 people killed and and hundreds wounded taken to the barely functional Nasser Medical Complex and to the Red Crescent field hospital in nearby Khan Younis.

The location of the massacre was right next to the spot where 15 paramedics and rescue workers were executed and then buried along with their vehicles by the colonial occupation.

A GHF statement, later deleted from its social media account, claimed that the distribution of food had gone smoothly and the slaughter was ‘untrue and fabricated’. Pro-Israel ‘hasbara’ (propaganda) accounts have already begun using footage shot at a different time to claim the massacre did not take place. Israel has repeatedly lied about massacres, including the nearby murder of the 15 paramedics.

Our aid was distributed again today without incident. We are aware of the rumors being spread by Hamas about deaths and injuries today – they are untrue and fabricated.

At the same time, Israeli forces also opened fire on civilians approaching a different GHF aid centre near the so-called ‘Netzarim corridor’ in central Gaza.

Summarising local hospital and Red Crescent reports, in the past 5 days Israeli occupation forces have killed at least 49 starving civilians and wounded at least 305 others at GHF ‘Israeli-American ‘aid’ points in in Gaza. Israel has murdered at least 200,000 civilians during the 18-month genocide and has imposed a starvation blockade on Gaza for three months, putting two million survivors in imminent danger of death from malnutrition, half of them children.
