Video: Issa Amro, of Louis Theroux West Bank documentary, attacked daily by Israeli settlers

Multiple peace prize-winner told German TV he was threatened with arrest if he files complaint against attackers

Palestinian activist Issa Amro – who has been awarded prizes by the United Nations, Sweden and the governments of Sweden, France and Germany for his work promoting non-violent resistance to human rights abuses- has been attacked every day since he featured in Louis Theroux’s BBC documentary that exposed the racism, violence, colonialism and arrogance of Israeli settlers.

Amro spoke to DW News and provided footage of one of the attacks, in which settlers – protected by armed Israeli troops – attacked his Hebron home with fire and chanted about him joining his dead brother. He said that he had been told he would be arrested if he filed a complaint against his attackers:

Amro has been a frequent target of the Israeli authorities, as well as illegal settlers, who have harassed, threatened, beaten and imprisoned him on multiple occasions. After he complained about this harassment in 2022, Israeli forces encircled his home and declared it a ‘closed military zone’. Shortly afterward he was arrested and badly beaten for filming Israeli soldiers beating an Israeli peace activist, then re-arrested a day later. Two months later he was again beaten in an unprovoked assault by Israeli soldiers, this time in front of a US journalist and cameraman, then beaten and arrested yet again in October 2023 before being released without charge.

The United Nations have repeatedly condemned the attacks and threats against Amro, yet the settlers not only enjoy impunity but are also protected by armed troops to prevent their victims defending themselves. Many Palestinians have been murdered by settler groups, yet Amro and his associates remain committed to peaceful resistance.

  1. Good to have something to be genuinely offended by, other than the outpouring of “grief” for two reps of the war-criminal Israeli government for ending up the same as 200,000 Palestinians who hardly ever get so much as a name on TV ……

    1. I blame beelzebub smotrich for spoiling it for everyone.

I mean, I might’ve been outraged by those shootings in DC if beelzebub hadn’t mentioned that zionist israel can kill hundreds of Palestinians in a few hours and nobody so much as bats an eyelid.

Therefore, why should I be remotely arsed about two people who are an active segment of the very same regime that uphold the smotrich sentiment??

I’m afraid the Greek tragedy that is the disproportionate reporting of that shooting has zero effect on me.

*scratches arse, sits back and puts feet up*

      1. On which note here……….

        https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/the-israel-embassy-shooter-manifesto

…….is the text of what is purported to be the alleged manifesto written by Elias Rodriguez, suspect in the killing of [those] two Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington, DC on Wednesday:

It’s around nine hundred words. Here’s a snippet:

” The Israelis themselves boast about their own shock at the free hand the Americans have given them to exterminate the Palestinians. Public opinion has shifted against the genocidal apartheid state, and the American government has simply shrugged, they’ll do without public opinion then, criminalize it where they can, suffocate it with bland reassurances that they’re doing all they can to restrain Israel where it cannot criminalize protest outright. Aaron Bushnell and others sacrificed themselves in the hopes of stopping the massacre and the state works to make us feel their sacrifice was made in vain, that there is no hope in escalating for Gaza and no point in bringing the war home. We can’t let them succeed. Their sacrifices were not made in vain.”

As you allude to, Toffee, the wall-to-wall message from the political and media class over these two murders in a week when mass murder and genocide is daily dismissed and portrayed as “clickbait” speaks volumes about the continuing ethnic hierarchy which elevates the lives and cultures of a small minority of the planets inhabitants from the self-defined “Garden” to the level of the sacred; whilst the lives of everyone else from ‘Jungle’, as designated by the self-declared “superior beings’, are dismissed as fair game for rape, torture, and mass murder on the grounds that they are “inferior beings.
