Israel murders 200+ civilians as renewed ground invasion of Gaza begins

Mass bombardment day and night

Survivors pick through the aftermath of Israel’s massive night-time bombardment.

Israel killed more than 200 Palestinian civilians since yesterday evening in a mass bombardment across northern Gaza as the occupation began a new ground invasion, ordering survivors to move south as it continues its ethnic cleansing, which it now openly admits is intended to result in the complete annexation of Gaza.

Surviving medics in the north of the enclave reported more than 200 people killed during the hours of darkness, many more wounded and even more trapped under rubble with little chance of rescue – as usual in Israel’s attacks, mostly women and children – as ground forces, aircraft and ships shelled large residential areas and refugee camps across the north, wiping out whole extended families in Jabalia and Beit Lahia.

One survivor able to access the internet.

Using the air and sea bombardment as cover, the occupation’s ground forces advanced besieged Beit Lahia and al-Salateen, cutting off displaced people and preventing paramedics and rescue workers from reaching the trapped and dying and abducting civilians in many areas.

Canadian-Palestinian Pulitzer Prize winner Mosab Abu Toha described what his and his wife’s relatives had suffered and condemned the colluding ‘mainstream’ media.

Survivors described it as one of the heaviest nights of bombing in the whole 586 days of the genocide so far.

Volker Turk, the United Nations’ highest human rights official, denounced the mass bombing and ethnic cleansing and called for an immediate halt to Israel’s criminal invasion, urging all member nations to intervene:

This latest barrage of bombs … and the denial of humanitarian assistance underline that there appears to be a push for a permanent demographic shift in Gaza that is in defiance of international law and is tantamount to ethnic cleansing.

We must stop the clock on this madness.

Turk, the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, warned that a clear intensification in attacks this week raised fears the wider Israeli offensive had begun.

The escalated bombing and renewed invasion comes after the US broke a reported promise to impose a new ceasefire and reopen the crossings for international aid in return for the release of captured Israeli-American soldier Idan Alexander this week:

The UK government continues not only to collude, but to participate directly, in the genocide, sending RAF spy flights to assist with targeting and shipping massive amounts of weapons and military hardware to the Israel occupation.

  1. All out for Palestine 17th May

    Saturday 17 May, 12 noon

National Demonstration for Palestine. End the Genocide.

Starting on the Embankment, crossing two bridges and ending in Whitehall

This march also marks the 77th anniversary of the NAKBA when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were dispossessed and expelled

The appalling situation in Gaza and the West Bank is clear for all to see. The starvation of people in Gaza, the murder of 15 paramedics and humanitarian workers….

  2. The West’s politicians could stop this immediately…. If they wanted to….

    1. This sort of scenario crops up very frequently nowadays. 🤔??? Hi
Thankfully, during the absence of the chef prosecutor the court’s two deputy prosecutors will assume his responsibilities and hopefully carry on with the court’s good work.
With a bit lot of luck we may still get to see the likes of Netanyahu and Putin in the dock at The Hague.

  3. What’s the difference between the way NYU have acted, and the way YOU act when you point-blank refuse to answer ANY question on ANY subject?

    1. Toffee – What on earth has made you think that I am in any way beholden to you.

      1. Again, if you don’t care what the rest of us think, don’t post your shite that you have freely confessed, us designed for no other purpose than to rile people.

        Nonce

      2. Toffee – It’s more a case of I don’t care what you think, why would I?

    2. No one cares what you think either, Billy.

However, when you are consistently wrong and spouting reality denying nonsense you will be challenged on it with evidence. Get used to it.

      1. Dave – Would you care to provide some evidence of these instances of “reality denying nonsense” that you claim I have been consistently spouting? 🌞

      2. Billy – What on earth has made you think that I am in any way beholden to you?

      3. Dave – I thought that you would have been eager to prove ‘your point’.
Never mind, we’ll just have to decide for ourselves whether you can’t or won’t produce any evidence to support your ‘assertions’ .
        🤔

    3. Once you have proven the many evidence free assertions and defamatory allegations which you have been challenged on by more than a few posters on this site, Billy, then the rest of us may consider it appropriate to run around after you,

Until then, given your track record as an apologist for neo-Nazi’s, eugenicist health policies, those aiding and abetting genocide, head choppers, and parasitic oligarch interests, you can go and pound sand.
