Breaking: independent MPs give ‘mainstream’ journalists instruction book on how to do their job

Independent Alliance group hands out ‘Journalism During a Genocide’ booklet

Independent Alliance MPs have today handed out guide books for ‘mainstream’ journalists on how to do their job during Israel’s genocide in Gaza, prompted by the dire lack of real challenge to PM Keir Starmer and his spokespeople by the establishment journalist class. The booklets have been seen in the parliamentary press lobby and across the Westminster estate.

The handbooks, titled “Journalism During a Genocide/A guide to holding the Prime Minister to account”, provide “a list of questions that journalists may wish to ask the Prime Minister in light of an ongoing genocide”, including:

• Why has the Prime Minister ignored [former Labour leader Jeremy] Corbyn’s demand for an independent inquiry?
• When will the PM and the Foreign Secretary be returning to the House to retract statements denying the genocide in Gaza?
• Will the government release video footage from RAF spy planes that have flown over Gaza?
• When will the government publish a full list of military shipments from the UK to Israel since October 2023?

The final question is a reference to recent revelations that David Lammy, Starmer’s Foreign Secretary, lied to the public and to Parliament that the UK had stopped the direct shipment of parts for Israel’s F-35 warplanes and other munitions.

The handbook begins with a jab at the lack of challenge and scrutiny by the ‘MSM’ journalists so far:

Since the government was elected in July 2024, the Prime Minister has held numerous press conferences to mark a range of policy announcements, from increases in military spending to the development of a theme park. These press conferences are an opportunity for the British media to hold the Prime Minister to account over the government’s role in Israel’s military assault on Gaza.

To that end, we trust this handbook will assist you in establishing truth and accountability.

It concludes by noting the cost paid by journalists in the UK, and especially in Gaza, for exposing Israel’s war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the genocide of more than 200,000 mostly women and children and the ongoing, deliberate starvation of two million, as a prod to any mainstream journalists who still cling to any integrity and self-respect:

Exposing the truth comes at a cost. In Gaza, journalists have paid with their lives. Here in Britain, journalists may damage personal relationships or hamper their professional ambitions. In an ongoing genocide, these risks are surely worth taking.

It does not, however, address the Starmer regime’s ‘lawfare’ war on UK journalists who do the job that the ‘mainstream’ is not doing, by exposing Israel’s crimes and the UK government’s collusion. To protect Israel’s interests and keep the public ignorant, Starmer is misusing anti-terror legislation to raid, harass, persecute and even prosecute journalists and others who speak out, many of them Jewish, seizing their confidential electronic devices and threatening them with prison sentences of up to fourteen years for speaking the truth.

‘Mainstream’ journalists have entirely ignored this war, too.

  1. Those bastards have hurt the feelings of kuenssburg with this sort of ‘bullying’.

So expect said independent MPs to have even less column millimetres and tv slots from now on.

    1. There comes a time, when regardless of bullying and/or being ignored makes SFA difference! I believe we’ve reached that point. Was watching a video this morning where students were singing (to the tune of “Oh Jeremy Corbyn”) “Keir Starmer’s a w***er”). When idealistic youngsters no-longer support the “left” [sic], you know the Labour Party is finished. Dead. Gone. Giving off a putrid smell.

  2. Starmer gives the impression of not being good at the job of PM, and KNOWING that he is not very good at the job, and hates every minute of it save for the freebies that it attracts (and should not!). One must therefore ask, who has put him there and to what purpose?

    1. Starmer and the rest of his regime are not even adequate at the job of being human beings.

  3. The link to the “full booklet” just takes us to a photo of the cover. There is no text.

  4. This is what mainstream media is about these days…

Blatant advertising from the bb of c, no doubt at the behest of a certain smarmerite cabinet ministerwith a frank sidebottom-type papier-mache head, and designs on being pm itself one day (stop laughing, its a fooking terrifying and all too real proposition).

    1. It’s worse than than blatant advertising, Toffee. That story you linked to encourages readers to believe pharmaceutical interventions are the “norm” (and therefor “acceptable”) for weight control, which (biochemically) can be extremely dangerous advice. This is the BBC endorsing HMV (the establishment’s) line that’s also being implemented by Wes Streeting, “trials” to explore the effects of weight loss drugs (“Mounjaro” etc) on worklessness. The centrist neolibs are ‘normalising’ commodified pharmaceuticals.

      1. Yes, qwert, uite correct. I was going to write as much but I got sidetracked onto my screeching phillipic instead.

  5. Bloody Good questions:

    • Why has the Prime Minister ignored [former Labour leader Jeremy] Corbyn’s demand for an independent inquiry?
    • When will the PM and the Foreign Secretary be returning to the House to retract statements denying the genocide in Gaza?
    • Will the government release video footage from RAF spy planes that have flown over Gaza?
    • When will the government publish a full list of military shipments from the UK to Israel since October 2023?

Considered un-answerable by the Prime Minister and The secretary of state for foreign, Commonwealth and development affairs on the grounds of being self-incriminating?

  6. Considered un-answerable by the Prime Minister and The secretary of state for foreign, Commonwealth and development affairs on the grounds of being self-incriminating?

This is why I’m convinced that the proposed ‘Hillsborough law’ WILL be diluted to the point of it being impotent at best, pointless at worst.

With these CSA inquiries they’re all too reluctant to hold, the Hillsborough law would find out keef’s involvement in savile, Rochdale Rotherham et al (despite keef or whoever destroying records) and would see him swing.

And let’s not forget keef’s record with Liverpool and the Hillsborough families (s*n)… Dont believe for a second he won’t sell them families out yet again.

  7. The integrity of journalism aspect is to the fore here – hundreds of journalists have lost their lives upholding the principle that the public should know what is going on in Gaza and, if you had any respect for the role you would as a journalist do everything possible to ensure that what they died trying to report was made known. Instead we have journalists here colluding with the suppression of information.
