HTS running Syria after help from US, UK, Israel is ‘reformed’ ISIS, say UK media and politicians
UK ministers and UK ‘mainstream’ media have portrayed the Al-Julani HTS regime in Syria – which took over the country after militant groups aided by the US, UK and Israeli militaries toppled the Assad government last year – as ‘reformed’ and ‘former’ ISIS terrorists as the government moves closer to full diplomatic relations with the new regime.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy admitted in December that the UK is in ‘diplomatic contact’ with HTS despite its presence on the Home Office’s list of ‘proscribed’ organisations (as part of al-Qaeda) and front bencher Pat McFadden admitted the government may un-ban the group. UK PM Keir Starmer did not deny this and would only say in December that it was ‘too soon’.
This position does not seem to have changed despite widespread evidence of mass atrocities by the regime against Syria’s substantial Druze, Alawite and Christian minorities – all but ignored or misrepresented by the government and ‘mainstream’ media. And now, the regime’s militia are engaged in a war of extermination against minorities – and their ISIS affiliations are very much current.

And masked fighters wearing the same patches published a video this week in which they warn Druze and Alawite communities that they love death more than life and are coming to cut the throats of these so-called ‘apostate’ groups – and they appear to have the same designs on Gaza (which they call Gaz):
The rehabilitation of the Syrian regime appears to be an entirely cosmetic exercise by those who want it normalised to undermine resistance to Israel’s land theft in the region, which has already included large parts of Syria to threaten Lebanon.

Given the long, long record of official lies sold to us by an oligarch controlled media and CIA/MI6 controlled NGO sector – from non-existent WMD’s in Iraq, the Gulf of Tonkin lies and the fake Zioniev letter through to the bullshit claims of nerve agents in Syria and Salisbury, Hillsborough stadium, babies ripped out of incubators/beheaded and umpteen others (including the lies of omission such as the zero reporting of the 1967 Israeli attack on the USS Liberty) – it is somewhat premature to start hanging ones hat on these sources.
Particularly when Assad was being seconded by the elites and paid for politicians of the USA and UK in the early 2000’s as a site for “Extraordinary Rendition (i.e kidnapping and torture).
Any victims of any graves from that period are most likely to be the victims not of the hired hand of the time (Assad) but of those who were doing the hiring – those in the Bush and Blair Regimes.
