Video: “You smell burning flesh” – volunteer doc speaks more about horrors he witnessed in Gaza

Dr Mohammed Mustafa’s interview ‘The faces of pain in Gaza’

On Sunday, Skwawkbox covered the testimony of Australian volunteer emergency surgeon Dr Mohammed Mustafa, who has just returned from service in Gaza and spoke about the horrific choices he had to make about which maimed children he could even give painkillers to because of Israel’s non-stop bombing and its complete blockade of medicines, as well as food and fuel, and its war on Gaza’s hospitals.

Now, Mustafa has given an interview to documentarian Malik for One Path Network, titled “The faces of pain in Gaza”, in which he speaks at more length about what he experienced there, the smells of burning flesh and the horrors of mutilated children, of having to wrap the heads of children blown apart by shrapnel or a sniper’s bullet just to give them some dignity in death and their family something to hold and weep over:

Malik wrote of the interview:

Dr. Mohammed Mustafa has just returned from Gaza.

What he witnessed defies easy explanation — hospitals reduced to rubble, critical supplies gone, and grief so thick it felt almost physical.
There are stories he now carries, stories of lives lost and impossible choices no human should ever face.

The kind of damage he faced does not scream; it settles in the bones, quietly, permanently.

And yet, he stands ready to return in a heartbeat, not for recognition, but because of a deep, unshakable purpose: to serve, to stand, and to humanise a people too often forgotten.

It was an honour to produce this episode, to help put out the voices that so desperately need to be heard.

Through Dr. Mustafa, we hear them. We must not turn away.

Israel is a terror state and no one should be subject to the atrocities it is perpetrating daily, with Gaza’s children its particular target. The UK government and many ‘mainstream’ media bosses belong in the dock at the Hague for their collusion with and protection of Israel’s criminal regime.

  1. This stuff just keeps on coming. After a while it’s not healthy to keep on watching or reading it (the more graphically gruesome posts), especially when there’s next to bugger-all we can do (within the law) to stop it, yet it seems like a dereliction of socialist duty not to. What to do? It’s a thoroughly depressing dilemma.

Skwawkie, just watch out that posting the X-rated stuff doesn’t drift into Atrocity Porn territory, ok? Please? Thanks.

    1. Good post, Tim. It’s getting depressing reading it, of course, although not doing so makes me feel like I’m ignoring their plight.

I dont and won’t watch the videos; not just for my own mental wellbeing, but to try to leave some sort of dignity to those poor sods who’ve copped it.

  2. Yes, Timfrom and The Toffee, I too am in a constant dilemma between thinking I have to watch because I can’t turn my back on what is happening, but then thinking I can’t carry on being so depressed, heartbroken and not least angry.

I read a similarly harrowing article Consortium News this morning with another volunteer doctor, Dr. Feroze Sidhwa from California, and it struck me again that along with all the deaths and injuries, many many of these incredibly brave medics will suffer life long PTSD if indeed they survive.

Meanwhile, that bastion of free speech The Guardian (sarcasm of course) tells us “Gaza is on the brink of catastrophy”. ‘On the brink’ really?

  3. The scares this man carries will haunt him all his life all because our government is sick and disabled of all humanity

    1. Given that Radakin is only obeying orders, perhaps they should put the questions to his (nominal) political boss? A self-declared Zionist who is also at present effectively criminalising anti-Zionism in the Country in the same way he criminalised it in the Labour Party.

And after that they could put similar questions to those who supported this political boss and such policies as this against the advice of saner and more ethical voices? Maybe Declassified will have better luck getting an answer from such people than others who have already asked such questions?

      1. Billy, on past precedent, there is every likelihood of the videos of such encounters will be every bit as informative as the Radakin video.

We look forward to not only seeing Herr Starmer, but also his number one sycophant perform the same Marty Feldman tribute act [Silent Movie] as Radakin if ever you post the link.

Be sure to keep a stiff upper lip.

      2. Dave – ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Am I supposed to be impressed? 🤔

      3. Billy – No. You were supposed to be predictable. And you came through for us all as expected.

Your mummy must be so proud. I know those of us pushing your buttons are.

      4. Dave – 🥱😴 Oh whoopee for you, if only we were all as clever ass you think you are

      5. Ah, bless! If only the bookies were giving odds.

The gift that keeps on digging.

Billy’s taking his bat and ball home again. Who would’ve thought?

      6. Dave – “Billy’s taking his bat and ball home again. Who would’ve thought?”

Really where did I say that?

      7. It’s an action, Billy, not a declared statement. Implicit in every inane and pathetic refusal to engage, substance free one-liner from an extremely limited repertoire of substance free one-liners.

It really is like having a conversation with DI.

      8. About what Billy?

You masked a question and it was answered.

What was it you were saying about pressing buttons?

      9. Dave – I don’t know, do you?

Given that I think you are one of Putin’s gullible and useless idiots who imagines he’s some sort of saddo hero because he’s conducting a rather pathetic wannabe bully boy vendetta.

You should count yourself lucky that I engage with you at all.

      10. “Engage”?

        That would be a first.

You could start by providing substantiating evidence, along with a coherent argument, for your wild and ridiculous claims about anyone who disagrees with you being some sort of puppet.

On that point, however, and in the absence of any forthcoming evidence from you, the previous offer still stands. You provide your contact details, and we can engage in settling that repeated libel in the appropriate forum. If you’ve got the balls, Billy?

  4. Dave – I don’t know

You never do when you’ve been asked the question.

Although we’re all of us the beneficiaries of your unrivalled perspicacity when it comes off your own bat.

There’s a gobshite across the pond acts exactly the same as you in your actions and deeds.

Interestingly, you’re as popular on here as he is amongst the rest of the world.
