Gaza journalist Shbat’s family release details of his murder

Horrifying information of assassination of Hossam Shbat and bystanders

The family of Hossam Shbat, the well-known Palestinian journalist murdered by Israel last month, has released the grim details of his killing – along with his friend and several bystanders – by an Israeli drone:

On the morning of March 24, 2025, Hossam left his tent alongside fellow journalists to begin their day of reporting. After driving for about one kilometer, they pulled over. Hossam stepped out to speak with a group of men nearby. Moments later, an Israeli surveillance drone launched a targeted strike.

The drone killed Hossam, the men he was speaking with, and his friend. As a surveillance drone, its use confirms that Hossam was deliberately tracked and targeted.

The strike was intense and direct-Hossam was killed instantly, and the force of the blast tore both of his legs off in opposite directions. He was assassinated by Al-powered, U.S.funded weaponry-targeted simply for being a journalist in Gaza.

Around 260 journalists have been murdered so far by Israel in Gaza during its genocide of hundreds of thousands of civilians, often along with their family – more than in the whole of World Wars I and II, Vietnam, Cambodia, ex-Yugoslavia, Iraq and a host of other wars combined. Western ‘mainstream’ media journalists continue to ignore the slaughter of their Palestinian colleagues. The UK government has not only remained silent about the slaughter but is using terrorism legislation to wage a ‘lawfare’ war – condemned by the United Nations – on British journalists and others who speak out about Israel’s genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
