Video: Trump says he will deport ‘homegrown’ US citizens to El Salvador concentration camps

Fascist US president has citizens in his sights after targeting legal immigrants who have committed no crime

The Trump regime in the US has targeted hundreds of legal immigrants – the vast majority of whom have no criminal record at all – for deportation to a concentration camp in El Salvador. Trump has also targeted a number of legal immigrants simply for speaking out against Israel’s genocide of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Gaza. Now, as human and civil rights groups have been warning, he has his sights on US citizens for the same fate.

During a meeting with El Salvadorian president Nayib Bukele in the Oval Office, Trump said “homegrowns” will also be sent to El Salvador – so many that Bukele needed to build at least five more of the inhumane sardine-can facilities into which Trump’s victims so far have been crammed.

Homegrown criminals are next. I said homegrowns are next. The homegrowns. You got to build about five more places.

Yeah, we’ve got space.

[Laughter] It’s not big enough.

Trump has deported hundreds of Venezuelan migrants claiming falsely that they are gang members, despite challenges in court and even orders from judges not to deport – and the regime has admitted it wrongly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a citizen of El Salvador who was living legally in Maryland, to the same prison, yet will not bring him back to the US and Bukele said the idea of sending him back was “preposterous.”

Trump’s fascism is more bare-faced than that of Keir Starmer in the US, but Keir Starmer’s war on freedom of speech and on refugees in the UK is no less real or sinister.

  1. Who is determining the definition of what constitutes a “criminal” and “criminal activity” in this context?

Given that security agencies are literally kidnapping people off the streets whose only “crime” is to criticise Government (ie Oligarch) behaviour in committing as well as aiding and abetting war crimes and crimes of aggression it seems more than reasonable to surmise that the definition of “criminal” is anyone who challenges or criticises the oligarch bought and paid for Government in the US.

And as we have all become accustomed to during our lifetimes, where the US leads the yapping poodle that is the UK is sure to follow.
