Board of Deputies exists to ‘advance Israel’s security, welfare and standing’ and is telling the BBC how to cover Israel’s genocide in Gaza – though of course that word is not used
Israel lobby group the ‘Board of Deputies of British Jews’ (BoD) has said it met the BBC with its demands for changes to its coverage of Gaza and expects them to implement these in less than a month.
The BoD’s constitution says that its purpose it to ‘advance Israel’s security, welfare and standing’, but the group still feels entitled to dictate what is fair coverage of Israel’s genocide in Gaza – though of course that word is never used and is already avoided like the plague by the cowardly broadcaster.
Despite the terror of the BBC and other broadcasters of offending or challenging the UK Israel lobby, the BoD expects the BBC to:
- commit to a review of its coverage, which is to be ‘independent’ but must, of course, satisfy the BoD
- a ‘requirement’ for the BBC never to mention anything to do with Gaza information provided from within Gaza – for example the huge numbers of deaths inflicted by Israel’s targeted bombing of children, families, hospitals, schools, journalists, medics, paramedics, emergency workers, food queues and aid workers – without qualifying those numbers by ‘informing’ viewers that the information is from a ‘proscribed terrorist group’
- demanding that the BBC translate the Palestinian word for Israeli as ‘Jew/Jews’ – Palestinians use the word ‘Yahud’ because they usually do not recognise the legitimacy of the Israeli occupation by naming it
- sacking BBC staff for a single instance of what amounts to offending the Israel lobby – a number of presenters have already lost their jobs under similar circumstances
- promising to jump to attention if the BoD or other lobby groups complain – or ‘rapidly addressing editorial breaches’, in the BoD’s Orwellian language
- ‘addressing’ the apparently unevidenced ‘serious deterioration in the health and wellbeing of Jewish [BBC] staff’ and their claimed ‘pervasive sense of hostility and isolation’ in a broadcaster where whistleblowers have accused their employer of quashing coverage of Israeli atrocities and living in terror of an angry call from the Israeli embassy – again, the supporters of Israel are the victims for supposed hurt feelings, not the hundreds of thousands being slaughtered, maimed and starved by the occupation in its efforts to purge them from Gaza
The BoD being nothing if not patient, its president is demanding all this by mid-April, when Jewish people celebrate Passover, three whole weeks away.
As one observer put it, the BoD’s letter amounts to the group ‘demanding total control’ of the BBC’s Gaza output.
These demands might seem familiar to followers of Labour politics, who may remember the ‘ten demands’ of the BoD to the Labour party – all of which and more they were given by the Starmer regime, including a veto on who can sit on Labour’s so-called ‘independent advisory board’ on antisemitism. Labour has even conducted a long purge of anti-Zionist Jews to reinforce the false – and antisemitic – narrative that all UK Jews support Israeli apartheid and occupation.
So the BoD’s apparent sense of entitlement to tell the BBC how to report the Gaza genocide ‘Israel-Hamas conflict’ seems rooted in its ability to get away with it previously. It’s time for that to stop, especially as the World Court (‘plausibly’), United Nations, human rights groups and most of the world acknowledge that committing genocide is exactly what Israel is doing, along with a string of other war crimes – but there’s no sign that it will.

I remember the “Ten demands of the BOD to the Labour Party” at the time of the leadership elections.
I called it out in a motion to my Labour Party branch.
I won the vote easily there.
A colleague of mine said to me “That was very brave of you”.
At the time I didn’t understand why she said it.
I moved my branch’s motion at my CLP meeting.
I was presently surprised to win a majority vote calling out the outrageous demands of the BOD.
My MP denounced the decision as “most unwise”.
The usual and predictable accusations of anti-Semitism were thrown about.
Chris Williamson MP was right when he said that Labour had been backing-off for too long and should have fought back against the anti-Semitism scam from the start.
As a life-long trade unionist, I know that: “When you start running away, you will never stop”.
The time to stand up against the lies and defamations against Jeremy Corbyn was right at the start.
The BOD has been emboldened by the timidity of Corbyn and those who couldn’t even stand and defend themselves.
It’s never too late to stand and fight.
Demand that the BBC rejects the BOD demands.

And I should add that during the course of the last eight or nine years, since people started spouting this B/S, I have asked again and again for them to spell out exactly what they think Jeremy should have said, and not one single person has ever responded and done so. Hmm, I wonder why!

I’ve just skimmed through the article, and it looks like it’s been changed, because in the original it said on three occasions that Ken said Hitler was a Zionist, and now it appears to only say it once. But the article directly under it DOES still start by repeating the fasehood in the very first paragraph:

PS And perhaps the three people who gave Johnsco a like (at the time of writing/typing) could post what they think Jeremy should have said to counter the A/S claims. Or anyone else for that matter.
I expect most people who follow skwawkbox are aware of the Haavara Agreement, and aware that THAT is what Ken was alluding to, although prior to the episode with Ken and the fraudulent attack on him, I doubt that even 0.1% of the population knew about it, including the Jewish population, and the fascist saboteurs and the MSM knew that, and knew they could get away with on the one hand refuting that Hitler had supported Zionism, and on the other hand fraudulently accusing him of antisemitism. My point being of course that if the Haavara Agreement had been widely known, the scumbags wouldn’t have enacted such a plot because most people would have seen it for what it was.
