US human rights group formally refers Biden, Blinken, Austin to ICC

DAWN asks International Criminal Court to investigate collusion in Israel’s genocide

US-based human rights group DAWN (Democracy for the Arab World Now) has formally asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to launch an official investigation into former US president Joe Biden, former Secretary of State and former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and other US officials over their collusion in and enabling of Israel’s genocide and other war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The group has hired a European legal team to run its case.

DAWN director and war crimes lawyer Reed Brody cited Israel’s use of US munitions against Gaza’s civilian population, health and education infrastructure and the then-US government’s intentional decision to keep supporting and equipping these crimes:

There are solid grounds to investigate Joe Biden, Antony Blinken and Lloyd Austin for complicity in Israel’s crimes. The bombs dropped on Israeli hospitals, schools and homes are American bombs, the campaign of murder and persecution has been carried out with American support. US officials have been aware of exactly what Israel is doing, and yet their support never stopped.”

DAWN’s executive director Sarah Leah Whitson explained the reasons the group has taken this action:

Israel and the US are not signatories to the ICC’s founding Rome Statute. However, the court has jurisdiction over crimes committed on the territory of any signatory, which includes Palestine. DAWN advocacy director Raed Jarrar told Middle East Eye that the group had no other option to achieve accountability for US support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which has killed hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children:

We have tried every possible venue in the US to stop the flow of US weapons to Israel and contacting and lobbying officials and working with congress and filing a lawsuit. None of these actions by any of our partners have led to any measures of accountability or suspended arms being sent to Israel. We were only left with the option of resorting to the ICC.

The US regime has threatened the ICC with invasion if it tries to put any US or Israeli officials on trial and has already imposed sanctions on ICC officials in its attempt to avoid accountability for itself and Israel.

Now it’s time for human rights groups to do the same with Keir Starmer, Foreign Secretary David Lammy and others in the UK for their enabling of Israel’s genocide and their war on anti-genocide journalism and activism.

    1. People like Starmer are merely sock puppets and are therefore expendable.

      1. Forgot to add that in terms of Starmer’s expendability, the key segment is between around 37 minutes and 41:45.

        Just remember the Lusitania.

      2. This also requires serious scrutiny…..

….in particular the issues of the UK claiming rights to Ukraine resources as part of the recent 100 year deal -with the potential for conflict with the USA over these claimed deals – and the fact that the UK is over extended financially in its guarantees to the IMF of Ukraine loans which have already been rescheduled.

It’s looking like the UK establishment has painted the country and its people into a corner and that Starmer was put in place as the fall guy.

    1. And this:

“Eight days ago I posted on the IDF unit which strapped explosives to the neck of an 80 year old Gazan then, while holding his wife hostage, deploying him as a human shield before releasing both to be shot dead by a second IDF unit. Noting, pace Owen Jones, Western corporate media silence on that atrocity, I wrote:

Imagine Hamas doing something like this, or Russian forces in Ukraine? Would it not be lead story for every broadcaster, emblazoned across every front page, in the collective West? The hypocrisy and double standards are the least of it. Corporate media lies of omission are, when all is said and done, par for the course. But in their silence on this as on so many other deeds of the Zionist regime and its enablers, are they not themselves a party to war crimes?”

    2. Not forgetting this report from the New Arab on a recent conference in London:

      “Limits of International law:

“The law privileges the state,” he said. “It sees some things and ignores others. The apartheid system in Israel is a product of settler colonialism – yet colonialism is not codified as a crime in international law, making it beyond legal reach from the start.

“Law only looks at events, not at ongoing structures of oppression. Genocide in Gaza is not an isolated event – it is part of a broader colonial project.”
