Exclusive: Gwynne’s listing as supporter of Labour Friends of Israel removed

MP accused of making antisemitic remarks was an LFI member – but name has been deleted from supporters list in a way suggesting sacking was pre-planned 2 months ago

Former health minister Andrew Gwynne was sacked from his position at the weekend – and suspended from the Labour party – after WhatsApp chats were leaked that showed Gwynne making abusive and allegedly antisemitic comments.

Right-wing party ‘sources’ have tried to paint a picture of Gwynne as a left-wing Corbynite, which could hardly be farther from the case or he would never have a place on Starmer’s front bench – but in fact, Gwynne is or was until recently a supporter of the notorious right-wing, anti-Palestinian pressure group that titles itself ‘Labour Friends of Israel’ (LFI).

Gwynne was among the LFI representatives who visited Israel just after it massacred Palestinians in 2018.

But Gwynne’s listing as an LFI supporter has disappeared from the group’s Wikipedia page – though still available in archived screenshots:

Even more interestingly, Gwynne’s name was removed from the page last December, almost two months before Gwynne’s exposure and sacking:

And the almost-inactive user account that deleted mention of him from the page has almost exclusively acted on Wikipedia to target pages that contain criticism of Labour leader Keir Starmer, for example the page about author Oliver Eagleton, whose book The Starmer Project exposed Starmer’s links to British and US intelligence services and the huge issues with his time as head of the Crown Prosecution Service:

A small sample of user ‘Oneequalsequalsone’s Wikipedia activity relating to Oliver Eagleton.

Political journalist Michael Crick has linked the manoeuvres against Gwynne to Labour’s desire to get its hands on the Greater Manchester Pension Fund and the right-wing papers that published the damning extracts from WhatsApp – a message platform known to be vulnerable to Israeli ‘Pegasus’ and other hacking software – have not named the source of the leaks, leading many to believe that the timing of the attack on Gwynne was deliberate and purposeful.

The fact that his name was removed as a supporter of LFI, two months in advance, by an account that has previously targeted an author who exposed Keir Starmer, may well be seen as supportive of that interpretation.

Update: according to new information in the Guardian this evening, Labour had known about the WhatsApp chat for more than a year:

It’s clear that the timing of the leak now is to do with Labour’s internal schemes and machinations – and probably the leadership’s lust for the £30bn Manchester pension fund.

  1. Right-wing party ‘sources’ have tried to paint a picture of Gwynne as a left-wing Corbynite,

Strangely enough (or perhaps not) the first news report i seen showed a clip of gwynne walking alongside Corbyn, RLB & A N Other.

The local news report showed a photo of gwynne next to RLB (hence my post on the other thread)

And the ‘i’ paper today has another photo of gwynne and Corbyn.

The sheer desperation and pointlessness of it leaves me rolling my eyes like some cartoon character.

Anyway, we know the real reason gwynne got the boot. Weren’t owt to do with the arl girl and the bins, nor was it owt about rayner.

…And as for the Diane abbot slurs, I’d have thought they were encouraged rather than anathema to keef’s lot.

But nope, werent that neither; we KNOW what it was done for him on the end.

    1. (***Sarcasm Alert***) And there we all were thinking the cut-off of USAID to all these propaganda media outfits would usher in a new era of truthful and accurate reporting.

I’m shocked, I tell you. Shocked!

      1. Old habits die hard. And the BBC, among others, will continue to feed the lies of omission and commission of The Official Narrative (TON) regardless of the loss of funding from US AID sources – which will take out the low-hanging fruit but will leave outlets operating at higher levels like the BBC to continue their long held practices.

Absent, of course, solid evidence of such entities ceasing to exist as a result of the withdrawal of this funding?

  2. Looks like a right stitch-up. Seems like ‘Labour’ are plotting to bring in a ‘more convenient’ lackey to help push through the Great LG Pension Pot Robbery.

Though they’ll probably have to fiddle the voting as well to stop the Reform candidate snatching it from them – that was why they didn’t risk dethroning the thug in Runcorn, wasn’t it?

    1. A stitch up reminiscent of Stalinism in its total absence of due process standardsand principles. Up to and including what is very clearly a forced public mea culpa.

These wassocks are eating each other in their desperation. And not for the first time.

  3. Quelle surprise!

Who would’ve thought there’s more to this story than meets the eye?

We wait with bated breath for a coherent response (but not a reasoned and grown up one, which would very clearly be far too much to expect) from the poster on this site who tried to use this piece of Sky News propaganda……

    https://news.sky.com/story/andrew-gwynne-sacked-as-health-minister-over-comments-posted-on-internal-whatsapp-group-13305272

…….as a dead cat slammed on the table to disrupt discussion on another thread.

    1. Dave – Thanks again for taking the time to highlight my informative interjection elsewhere. Unfortunately you are still not making much sense.

      1. It’s not quantum mechanics, Billy.

Sky News and other sources parroted The Official Narrative that this MP was a ‘wrong un’ with no evidence to substantiate the allegations put out by the LP other than a mea culpa that would have made Stalin blush.

Some of us pointed this out and were derided with disdain by yourself for doing so.

Now it turns out the reticence is well-founded because the wider context is that this MP was being set up to be removed some time ago to enable an agenda.

Demonstrating (a) that the original Sky Report you posted was at best deliberately highly misleading and at worst the usual bag of shite we get day in day out from a media which Trump’s cutting off of USAID has revealed to be nothing other than a paid prostitute; and (b) you naively, gullible as you are, publicly associated yourself with a steaming pile of manure.

        Keep digging, sucker.

      2. “Has anything of significance that was reported in Sky News’s initial report proved to be untrue? ”

Yes, it has Billy. As already explained to you more than once in the last few days, a lie of omission is still a lie. An Untruth.

The report did not reveal the context in which the allegations were made – which is the actual subject of this thread on the Skwawkbox site. I suggest you re-read the above article. Nor did it provide evidence to substantiate the allegations.

It’s called due process, Billy. You might want to familiarise yourself with the concept rather than pathetically making excuses which suggest you have no problems and are comfortable with your penny dreadful heros playing fast and loose with one of the basic principles of a civilised system of society (which is always a dead give away of someone with fascist tendencies – which also explains your support for neo-Nazi thugs and war criminals in 404).

        Keep digging, sucker.

  4. Off topic

    Hamas suspends Israeli hostage release

    Breaking
Hamas’s armed wing says it will delay the release of more Israeli hostages “until further notice”. Three were due to be released on Saturday.

Here’s the full statement from Hamas’s armed wing:

“Over the past three weeks, the leadership of the resistance has monitored the enemy’s violations and its failure to comply with the terms of the agreement.

“These violations include delaying the return of displaced persons to northern Gaza, targeting them with shelling and gunfire in various areas of the Strip, and failing to allow the entry of humanitarian aid in all its agreed-upon forms.

“Meanwhile, the resistance has fully honoured its commitments.

“Accordingly, the release of the Zionist prisoners, which was scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025, will be postponed until further notice, pending the enemy’s compliance and the retroactive fulfillment of the past weeks’ obligations.

“We reaffirm our commitment to the terms of the agreement as long as the occupation adheres to them.”

But the feneral public don’t know that the zionists have breached their terms on multiple occasions in Gaza AND Lebanon because the bbc and British media in general hasn’t bothered to tell them
