US building sinister megastructure ’embassy’ in Beirut

Built to house five thousand, with ‘dungeons’, compared to a few hundred for typical major embassy

The US is building a sinister megastructure ’embassy’ – the second-largest embassy in the world – in tiny Lebanon, just north of Israel, raising questions about its reasons for needing such a huge complex in Beirut, which has been regularly subject to military and terrorist attacks from Israel.

The secure complex of buildings is designed to house around five thousand staff, compared to the usual 350 or so in a typical major embassy – and is being built with ‘dungeons’ underneath to secure an unknown number of prisoners.

Former UK ambassador Craig Murray, who is in Lebanon for an extended reporting stint, has published a video examining the huge project, titled ‘What the Hell is That?’:

Lebanon was the target of repeated bombing and terrorist attacks by Israel late last year and is currently in a fragile ‘ceasefire’ with Israel which – Israel being Israel – is breached constantly as Israel continues to bomb civilians north of the ‘blue line’ demarcation which serves as its border with Lebanon. As soon as that faux-ceasefire began, Israel and the US supported so-called ‘Syrian rebels’ consisting mostly of foreign ISIS and al-Qaeda fighters to topple the Assad regime in Syria and Israel promptly invaded large portions of Syrian territory along the Lebanese border, posing an even greater threat to Lebanon’s security.

What the hell, indeed, is the US empire planning with the lives and freedom of the people of Lebanon and its neighbours?
