Video: Kamal Adwan ICU in N Gaza ablaze after ‘night of horror’ under Israeli attack

Doctors, babies, oxygen stores already attacked by Israel, now most desperately sick and wounded are targeted

The intensive care unit (ICU) at Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza is in flames and completely out of service after what hospital staff describe as a ‘night of horror’ under Israeli bombs and shells. The hospital has been a frequent target for occupation forces, killing babies and medical staffincluding the hospital’s ICU head – and destroying vital medicine and oxygen stores. More than sixty patients are said to be still trapped inside the unit; the precise number of casualties is unknown, but dozens are said to have been killed and more than fifty wounded.

Dr Hussam Abu Safiyeh, Kamal Adwan director, on the attack.

While UK media have remained silent on the attack, Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera has covered it:

Staff described last night as a ‘night of horror’:

Medical staff in the UK and Ireland have called on their governments to take urgent action against Israel’s war crimes against their colleagues and their patients in Palestine. Neither UK PM Keir Starmer nor Foreign Secretary David Lammy have mentioned, let alone condemned, Israel’s war on Gaza’s hospitals, doctors and sick.

  1. There is something deeply sick with our political leaders who cannot bring themselves to condemn and disassociate themselves from this brutal mass murder in Gaza.
To think that I was 24 years in the Labour Party !!
What took me so long before I left in disgust ??

  2. Meanwhile, the Israeli publication Haaretz (archived)……

    https://archive.is/kIw8V

    …..reveals that:

“We’re killing civilians there who are then counted as terrorists,” a recently discharged officer told Haaretz.”

Let that sink in: The report contains testimony from Israeli troops that civilians are being murdered in Gaza and are then being retroactively designated as terrorists to justify their execution.

    What’s going on?

Caitlin Johnson asks the pertinent – or should that be impertinent – question:

“Where Does The Aggression Really Begin?

    Read on…………

    1. ……..”The empire’s favorite trick is to begin the historical record at the moment its enemies retaliate against its abuses.”

“New York prosecutors have charged Luigi Mangione with “murder as an act of terrorism” in his alleged shooting of health insurance CEO Brian Thompson earlier this month.

This news comes out at the same time as a Haaretz report titled “‘No Civilians. Everyone’s a Terrorist’: IDF Soldiers Expose Arbitrary Killings and Rampant Lawlessness in Gaza’s Netzarim Corridor.” The report contains testimony from Israeli troops that civilians are being murdered in Gaza and are then being retroactively designated as terrorists to justify their execution.

These two stories together say so much about the way the label “terrorist” is used under the US-centralized power umbrella.

The guy who shot the health insurance CEO is a terrorist, but the people systematically slaughtering civilians in Gaza are not terrorists. The people fighting against those who are slaughtering the civilians are terrorists, and noncombatants are being categorized as belonging to this terrorist organization in order to justify killing them. The al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria were terrorists, but now they’re a US puppet regime so soon they won’t be terrorists — but they need to be designated terrorists for a little while longer because the claim that Syria is crawling with terrorists is Israel’s justification for its recent land grabs there. The Uyghur militant group ETIM used to be a terrorist group, but now they’re not a terrorist group because they can be used to help carve up Syria and maybe fight China later on. The IRGC is a military wing of a sovereign nation, but it counts as a terrorist group because of vibes or something.

      Is that clear enough?

the label “terrorist” is a tool of narrative control, moved around based on whether or not a use of violence is deemed legitimate by the managers of empire. Because Luigi Mangione’s alleged crime ignited a public interest in class war, the label “terrorism” is being used to frame it as an especially heinous act of evil against an innocent member of the public.

A favorite trick is to begin the historical record at the moment its enemies retaliate to its abuses. Oh no, a health insurance CEO was victimized by an evil act of terrorism. Oh no, Israel was just innocently minding its own business when it was viciously attacked by Hamas. Oh no, Iran attacked Israel completely out of the blue and now Israel must retaliate. Oh no, Russia just launched an entirely unprovoked war on Ukraine.

Everything that led up to the unauthorized violence is erased from the record, because all the violence, provocation and abuse which gave rise to it were authorized by the empire. Authorized aggression doesn’t count as aggression.”

And the same process takes place in a different form – for now – on the home front. Journalists and activists who react to the crimes committed by an out of control 1% and its comprador 10% are also labelled “terrorists” – Julian Assange, Sarah Wilkinson, Asa Winstanley, Tony Greenstein among them.

Along with that other perennial favourite “anti-Semite” – the pinnacle of the manufactured hierarchy of oppression which the self-defined “woke” “progressives” have done all the heavy lifting to promote on behalf of ‘The Man” and the Establishment.

Meanwhile, like the proverbial boiled frog, inconvenient elections which the Empire – again, for now – deem the only ‘legitimate’ means of expressing dissent (because the oligarchy control them) are conveniently “postponed” – cancelling, as in Romania not being necessary because there is at present no non-oligarch controlled candidate permitted.

At the present rate it cannot be too long before we are all, like the civilians in Gaza, Luigi Mangione, Briana Boston, Tony Greenstein, Sarah Wilkinnson, Asa Winstanley and others, labelled as “terrorists” by the Empire and subject to being outlawed and cancelled in one way or another.

      Delay, Deny, Dispose.

      Works both ways.
