Social media shadowbanning of independent news is widespread, but this is censorship of pure fact
As Skwawkbox covered last night, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been confirmed to have sabotaged at least two peace deals accepted by Palestinian militia groups in Gaza, including one right at the beginning of Israel’s genocide of Palestinian civilians, both of which would have led to the immediate release of Israelis captured on 7 October last year and prevented the murders of two hundred thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children.
This news is being ignored by western ‘mainstream’ media but freely discussed by their Israeli counterparts. But social media giant Facebook appears not to want the news to spread more widely. Skwawkbox published the news last night in a thoroughly-sourced article – but readers who have tried to share it to their own Facebook feeds report being prevented from doing so:
Facebook has long been known to ban or hide left-wing and especially anti-Zionist news and has been shown to make special accommodations for the Israeli regime despite its apartheid, racism and genocide, and has recently been seen to protect UK politicians and ‘mainstream’ media from adverse publicity.
The old saying is that you are entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts, but it seems that you are not entitled to objective facts if they clash with the preferred narrative of the western Establishment.
