Remarkable video shows Lebanese defiance against Israel’s war crimes

Reaction suggests unbreakable spirit of Lebanese people

A remarkable video shot today in Beirut shows the defiance of the people of Lebanon against Israel’s atrocities.

A local man who describes himself as ‘an adventurer who loves his country, thank God’, and ran an ‘adventure’ channel that has now been repurposed to chronicle the resilience of local people and their efforts to help each other in the face of Israeli war crimes, has released a video of the scene as an Israeli bomb fell a few blocks from the balcony where he sat reading.

Rather than react in shock and fear, he stands and then unfurls a Lebanese flag, saying to the camera:

Our country is the country of civilisation, history and education. And their countries [pointing to the explosion] are the countries of violence.

His cameraman then comes in front of the camera to say ‘We are victorious’:

The Instagram post accompanying the video reads:

Our weapon is our mind✌🏻🧠.. Persistent despite the brutal aggression

There is a clear ‘cut’ in the footage where the man must have run to find the flag, but his composure and readiness to relax in a zone clearly targeted by the Israeli settler-colonial regime speak volumes.

In the face of its failure to advance in its ground invasion, reportedly retreating repeatedly to the ‘blue line’ demarcation that serves as its border with Lebanon, Israel has escalated its bombing of civilian areas and has killed thousands in the two months or so since it began its assault on Lebanon with a mass, indiscriminate terrorist campaign using exploding pagers and radios.

The Starmer UK government continues to refuse to condemn Israel’s mass bombing of civilians in Gaza and Lebanon and its starvation and ethnic cleansing of millions in Gaza.

  1. Thank you Steve Walker for showing the instagram video here.

REMEMBER everybody, instagram is part of ‘Meta’/facebook and whereas viewing a instagram/facebook/whatsapp, etc., product here still INFECTS your computer with surveillance and tracking tools, at least it. does not require you to log in to the exploitative channels and give the dangerous Meta permission to track all your internet activity and make money from it.

Meta (as facebook) already stops SKWAWKBOX from posting any pro-Palestininan opiniion and from criticising rogue-state Israel’s murderous zionism. Stop using Meta.

  2. If he were in Birmingham rather than Beirut, he’d likely get a ten-year stretch for pulling a “stunt” like that….

    https://tribunemag.co.uk/2024/11/labours-war-on-protest-laws/

…in a British “state in which you face a potential ten-year prison stretch for partaking in an ‘annoying’ peaceful protest. (The longest sentence actually passed down under these laws so far is five years, which might not seem so lenient when you remember the average sentence for rape is between four and 19.) In the ensuing trial, you may be banned from mentioning the political or environmental factors that led to you taking action in your defence, and those who might dare to stand outside the court with signs reminding the jurors that they have the right to acquit you according to their consciences — a basic principle — may also be prosecuted for contempt…..

…..According to human rights organisation Liberty,….hundreds of people have already been arrested or convicted under these provisions even though the fact they were passed by statutory instrument rather than primary legislation makes them ‘undemocratic, unconstitutional and unacceptable’.”

    Meanwhile………….

    1. ……..this Bill is currently being debated in the US:

      https://waysandmeans.house.gov/2024/11/13/house-democrats-block-bill-cracking-down-on-support-for-terrorism-by-tax-exempt-organizations-providing-relief-from-tax-penalties-for-american-hostages/

Which as many are already observing, “would grant the Treasury secretary power to revoke the tax-exempt status of any nonprofit deemed to be “terrorist supporting.”

Which, as we all know, is dependent upon who is doing the defining.

Whilst the link above refers to “Democrats” (sic) now opposing this Bill, it does not take much nous to figure out what the future of such initiatives will be in the hands of any US administration working on behalf of the Blob once the new front man is inaugurated. And to be realistic, it would be the same if the Kamala marionette had won the Presidency.

As the Intercept has noted: such a Bill “would give the Trump administration unilateral authority to strip the non-profit status of any organization that criticizes or questions him.”….

…..Once that happens, any group defined and designated as such “wouldn’t be able to collect donations, pay staff, or get banking services. Trump [or any administration] wouldn’t have to provide evidence or even an explanation. The administration could simply issue a notice, and the organization would be effectively shut down…..

…..every nonprofit organization in America that dares to stand up to Trump [or the policies of the Blob] will be in existential danger.”

And anything the US does in this regard will be copied and “improved” upon by sociopaths like Herr Starmer.
