Campaigner for a just peace in Palestine raided as Starmer regime intensifies assault on anti-genocide journalists and activists
Natalie Strecker, a well-known writer and campaigner for a just peace in Palestine has been arrested on her home island of Jersey this morning. Strecker, an associate of UN-recognised Palestinian advocate of non-violent resistance, Issa Amro, recently returned from a Middle East trip but appears to have been targeted at home, though information is scarce at the moment. She has tirelessly exposed the crimes of Israel’s occupation and campaigned for a ceasefire in its Gaza genocide.
The arrest is another sign of the criminal Starmer regime’s continuing escalation of its war on anti-genocide journalists and activists by abusing anti-terror legislation to raid and arrest journalists and activists and force access to their confidential information – many of them, like many anti-genocide protesters, Jewish. Hate-speech laws are similarly being misused to target anti-genocide campaigners, again many of them Jewish, like Israeli professor Haim Bresheeth, arrested earlier this month for a speech against Israel’s genocide and racism.

What an abysmal country we live in, with the very worst PM of my lifetime and I lived through the abhorrent Thatcher. What an awful answer he gave in Parliament as though the United Nations, the only body that is tasked with defining genocide, is subservient to his self-centred cockiness that only he knows the definition of genocide. He stands by whilst tens of thousands of perfectly innocent people are wiped out and the scores kept as though they are nothing more significant than the National League North football results. And these vast numbers are justified by him, even as he stands up in Parliament and cries crocodile tears about some unknown resident of these shores being unwell. WE deserve better, don’t we? Please say we do deserve better then him!

Peace Activists being arrested for…..being peace activists – A mark of shame on our society and proof that it is changing from its once-inclusive and liberal nature.
But let’s not forget, until Sir Keir R Starmer and his authoritarian faux-Labour Government, Journalism was respected, esteemed and occasionally even venerated. Starmer’s pivotol role in the non-prosecution of News of the World and the arrest and imprisonment of Julian Assange should have pre-warned us about his TINA-like servitude to the security state and the elites it serves.

There are many ways of describing what passes for a British “journalism” = which even as far back as WW1 was pushing barefaced lies onto the public on behalf of the Government/Establishment, like the oversubscription for war bonds on the part of the public when the opposite was the case – but the terms “respected, esteemed and venerated” have hardly, if ever, applied.
Although to be fair, this goes for corporate media journalism – owned, like our politicians and political parties, by a handful of oligarchs – across most of the Western World at least. As Upton Sinclair observed; “it is difficult to get someone to accept something when their salary depends on them not accepting it.
