Video: Israel kills 66yo man in home raid hours after he tried to stop them shooting at Palestinian youth

Israeli police beat Hajj Zaid Abu Halil to death in his West Bank home

Hajj Zaid Abu Halil

Palestinian elder Hajj Zaid Abu Halil put himself between Israeli occupation police and a group of peacefully protesting Palestinian youth in the West Bank town of Dura on Sunday, in an attempt to stop them firing tear gas and rubber bullets at the young people. His bravery was caught on camera as he remonstrated with the armed occupiers:

Hours later Abu Halil, 66, was dead after a severe beating by occupation forces as they raided his home. He was taken to Dura hospital but declared dead on arrival, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA. He was a well-known leader of his community and anti-occupation activist who had been injured on several previous occasions by Israeli forces.

Israel has killed almost eight hundred Palestinians in the West Bank since 7 October last year and has now recommenced bombing of the enclave and shut down West Bank media as it spreads its genocide and war crimes beyond Gaza with the support of western governments.

    1. Must be if all the Western media say so…..

      https://www.medialens.org/2024/part-of-the-mechanism-of-genocide-in-palestine-the-complicity-of-mainstream-media/

“western media companies have made themselves a part of the mechanism of genocide in Palestine…..

…..the role of complicit Western media corporations [in] knowingly disseminating Israeli disinformation and propaganda, justifying war crimes and crimes against humanity, dehumanizing Palestinians, and blacking out information on the genocide in the West. From the perspective of international human rights law, such actions could and should be subject to sanctions….

…..CNN, Fox, BBC, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal know what they are doing. This is not to say that these Western outlets are in every sense the modern equivalents [of] Der Sturmer and [Rwanda’s] Milles Collines (they are not). But, like these historic examples, they have recklessly crossed the boundaries of ethical journalism and, in some cases, may find themselves legally exposed as well.”

      – Craig Mokhiber, who resigned last October as the director of the New York office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in protest at the UN’s weak response to Israel’s ‘textbook genocide’ in Gaza.

As a result, murder is downgraded to ‘being killed’. Invasion is reclassified as “an incursion”. Defending yourself against occupation becomes “terrorism” – unless you are Israel. An enclosure is placed around concepts, definitions and meanings in which all positive terms are the exclusive properties of a self-selecting group and denied to anyone declared an official enemy.

  1. “Israel kills 66yo man in home raid”

“The names of those killed in the Israeli genocide on Gaza.”

    Killed?

      1. The point, for those at the back of the remedial class, is that a civilian beaten to death by police in their own home and tens (probably hundreds) of thousands of civilians slaughtered in a genocide have not been killed, they have been murdered.

There is both a moral as well as a legal difference, Billy.

The fact that you need to have that explained to you speaks volumes.

      2. Dave – If you have a problem with the language that The Palestine Chronicle, Steve Walker or Al-Jazeera have used then please feel free to take it up with them.

      3. Given that it was you who asked the question, Billy, not The Palestine Chronicle, Steve Walker or Al-Jazeera, and remain confused on the issue (to the point of obtuseness) I’m taking it up with you.

Rather than whining about it, maybe a period of reflection on your part focusing on the perils of opening that Grand Canyon sized gob of yours is in order.

      4. Dave – I was reflecting on the genocide unfolding in Gaza when I published the list of the scores of thousands who have died at the hands of the IDF whilst you were self evidently busy virtue signalling and sadly attempting to make it all about you again.

      5. ” I was reflecting on the genocide unfolding in Gaza”

        Of course you were Billy.

And no one here would even think you were projecting, again.

      6. Dave – It is disappointing to observe that you are persisting with your efforts to make this all about you again.

  2. The fact that the Labour party at its annual conference in Liverpool had the impudence to ban the words Genocide and Apartheid tells you everything you need to know about the vile Labour leadership, it also speaks volumes about the rapidly diminishing numerical numbers who unthinking follow them. Those words are established facts, the truth is anathema to the Labour party.

  3. Headline: ‘Israeli Occupation Force murders 66 year old Palestinian man Hajj Zaid Abu Halil In his own home, in his own country NOT theirs.’
The dehumanisation of the IDF we are witnessing continues.
As the West continues to turn a blind eye for a share of the profits and continues to enable this Israeli Genocide via arms sales etc; history will condemn them for ever.
