Video: US official – ‘I said [the lie about Israel not starving Gaza] would haunt us – and it has’

Stacey Gilbert, who resigned from US State Dept over big lie to protect Israel, breaks down as she talks about the government’s butchering of her department’s report that Israel was starving the people of Gaza

A former State Department official who resigned over the US government’s butchering of her report that Israel was (and is) starving the people of Gaza, has spoken to Al Jazeera’s AJ+ about her warnings to her bosses that their actions would ‘haunt us’.

Stacey Gilbert breaks down as she remembers the redaction of the report, which US government spokespeople, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, then used to support their lie that Israel was not starving their Palestinian victims – a finding that Israel was doing so would have required the government, under US law, to immediately stop its exports of massive quantities of bombs and other weapons to the Israeli military:

The clip is from the new AJ+ documentary STARVING GAZA, which presents a mass of evidence of Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war and that the US both knew about it and covered it up in order to provide Israel with political cover and to maintain the flow of weapons that Israel continues to use on civilians in Gaza and now in Lebanon.

Ms Gilbert resigned from the US State Department report after it falsified the report that she and her colleagues had compiled detailing Israel’s war crime.

The documentary also includes the testimony, filmed by journalists in Gaza who are being actively targeted by Israel, of victims of starvation and the Kamal Adwan hospital as it struggled to cope with burgeoning cases of child malnutrition. Watch in full below:
