Israeli regime determined to provoke all-out war as US continues to ‘demand’ non-escalation

Israel has bombed a house in southern Beirut today, after launching two waves of terrorist attacks this week in which civilian electronic devices exploding in public areas, killing dozens – including at least two children – and inflicting hideous injuries on thousands of others.
Israel has claimed the strike was a targeted attack on senior Hezbollah leader Ibrahim Aqil, but was unable to say whether he was killed or injured in the attack. However, Lebanese government health department sources reported at least eight people killed and others injured in the attack on a residential area, which caused fire and widespread damage:
The US continues to call for Lebanon and its allies to sit back and accept Israel’s attacks to avoid escalation into a regional war. However, Netanyahu’s rogue-state regime is clearly determined to provoke all-out war on the assumption that the US will come in on its side and has declared its intention to switch its focus to Lebanon while it continues to kill and maim hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children.
The US government’s comments and track record back up this assumption, which will lead to death and devastation for millions of civilians in the region. UK PM Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy remain shamefully silent on Israel’s terror tactics, despite the clear breaches of UK and international law they involve.

Some people just like hungry children.
Seems Lammy’s all for the slaughter. Starmer set a very low bar but even so!
Off topic, from Richard J Murphy:
With a Cabinet made up of supposedly highly qualified graduates, all of whom would claim to have a social conscience, you would expect Labour to be able to think critically about the solutions required to the problems created by fourteen years of Tory rule. Right now, however, it seems that there is not one critical thinker amongst the lot of them. No wonder they’re already in such a mess…
And this is deeply worrying because if they can’t think well, they can’t govern well because the whole task of those at the top of government is to think. After all, their job isn’t to implement, that’s what the civil service does. Their only job is to create strategy. And strategy requires critical thinking, and they can’t do it.
And in that case, and unless there’s some form of radical Damascene conversion to critical thinking amongst Labour ministers over the next few weeks, frankly, I think we’re heading for a disastrous five years of Labour government. And I really wish that wasn’t the case.
Why can’t they remember what they were taught at university?
“Why can’t they remember what they were taught at university?2
Unfortunately, much of what is taught at Universities is not what we assume it to be.
For example; you would hard-pressed anywhere in the Collective Worst to find an Economics Department teaching the classical economics of Adam Smith and others of that ilk in regard to the unearned income of rentier finance which was the basis of a feudal, rather than an industrial capitalist, society.
For some decades students in such faculties are taught nonsense economics whic, for example, denies any difference between price and value. All they know is the feudal era and pre-classical economic voodooism of parasitic finacialism. Because that what they have been taught to be the natural order of things in which no other alternative is possible or feasible.
The likes of Rachael Thieves and a horde of others who have been through the indoctrination are cognitively incapable of understanding and, therefore, accepting any other alternative way of thinking.
And from such points all else follows. It’s why we have replaced a productive industrial base with a parasitic finacialised economy based on massive unpayable and unrealisable debt and do not have the capacity to produce sufficient for the needs of our crumbling society and faux civilisation. Whether it’s consumables or armaments, the larder is depleted because everything is geared towards short term rentier maximisation rather than productive value.
And that is a direct result of what is and is not taught in what passes for an education system, whose structure treats its human raw material as tins of peas on a production line. No one is taught to actually think. They are processed to receive and disseminate an official dogma which has no real world efficacy.
In the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is a threat.
Brilliant Dave. True story; Knew a bloke who’d gone through the LSE programme and he thought that Adam Smith was an ex Arsenal forward. Works for Haringey and is a member of Labour Party.
Lammy’s shameful silence is ear-piercing. “What hurts the victim most is not the cruelty of the oppressor, but the silence of the bystander.” – Elie Wiesel.
FWIW Wiesel described himself as a zionist and even briefly supported the idea of expanding Jewish settlements into the Palestinian territories conquered by Israel during the 6 Day War; he later conceded that Israel’s Occupied territories are considered illegal by the international community. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. In his acceptance speech he delivered a message “of peace, atonement, and human dignity”. He explained his feelings: “Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant.”
Just went onto Al Jazeera’s website to copy a link to something to post on here, and there was a Live Update posted just a few minutes ago about Israel/IDF bombing yet another school where people were sheltering, and killing 21 of them. And no doubt maiming and otherwise seriouly injuring dozens more.
Yep, another Hamas command post supposedly. As if!

Lawmaker criticises US silence on thousands killed in Gaza
US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib criticised her colleagues’ silence on the thousands killed in Israel’s war on Gaza after a 600-page document with the names of Palestinians killed was made public.
