This interview is appalling but far from shocking
A Channel 4 interview with a blond-haired, blue-eyed US-Israeli settler speaks volumes about the racism that is the foundation of the ideology of Zionism.
In an unabashed interview, settler Secunder Kermani says that colonisation is unfairly stigmatised and is ‘good’ if the people it removes or oppresses has a “bad ideology”, so the settlers can ‘correct their views’. She also says that Palestinians in Gaza should be taken by Spain, Russia and other countries so the land – she wouldn’t consider it their land, of course – is empty for Israeli settlers. And she adds that since she doesn’t consider Palestinians an ethnic group then removing them is not the war crime of ethnic cleansing:
Now turn the tables and imagine anyone sitting there and blithely saying the same thing about Jewish people, and what the reaction would be.
Israel has killed as many as 200,000 people in Gaza since 7 October last year – and around 650 Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, which played no role in the raid in which Israel’s military killed an ‘immense’ number of its own citizens.

It is true that Palestinians are not an ethnicity since they are Arabs. But, ideology? Palestine is a nation and Palestinians are fighting to get the land that was stolen from them back.

I’m having problems believing Jewish is a distinct ethnic group. Seems to me to just a made-up justification for acting like an obnoxious, over-entitled, murderous, land-grabbing cunt!
Winston Churchill justified the western colonialist project in Palestine on the basis of white supremacism.

Bernard Regan, ‘The Balfour Declaration’ is brilliant and surrogate settler colonialism was in Britain’s then Imperial interests, offering access to the Suez Canal to rush troops to India to put down mutineers, to protect Iraq’s oilfields, & to keep Imperial rivals at bay France, Germany & Russia.
The Zionists fought for the declaration to say a Jewish state but it actually said a Jewish Home & It should not impact negatively on the indigenous (Palestinian) population (in Regan) so yes the organised theft of Palestinian land deservedly gets a very bad rap.
The first (Zionist) Governer of the British Mandate in Palestine summed it up perfectly “This will be great, we will have a little Jewish Ulster surrounded by a sea of Arab antagonism.” (Regan).
And the Imperialist mantle was later ceded to the USA, with Israel (& the rest of the West wanting a share) as they promote arms sales & want to steal Gaza’s land, gas, oil & to build a new canal in the Levant, so Palestinians are being slaughtered for profits.
But Zionism it could be argued is delusional-they believe Jewish people are superior (an homogenous view of wonderfully diverse Jewish people) but of course Jewish people are diverse, and like all groups some are good and some may not be, but Jewish people are just equal.
Zionism is defeatist-they used every means to get Jewish people out of Europe when they perhaps should have been in an alliance there with the Left to fight Racism & for Equality.
And it is dehumanised-see now it’s actions in Gaza & over the last 75 years & longer.
But if Western capitalists didn’t use violence to achieve their ends a Free Multi-Ethnic Democratic State of Palestine (Eid, Said, Pappe) (with the Right of Palestine Refugees to Return) could exploit its own resources to benefit its diverse citizens & this could benefit world trade too.
And this is a rational & peaceful solution.
We have witnessed 11 months of Palestinians experiencing a living hell and most of us have marched every week plus have taken other actions plus the oppressed of the world has woken up and we see Western Leaders exposed as they really are, & BDS is having a big impact so we’ll continue as long as it takes as we are on the Right Side of History.
