Democrats ban Palestinians from speaking at their Convention

Racist move outrages ‘Uncommitted’ voter movement, ‘hierarchy of human value’ signals no policy change from pro-genocide Biden regime if Harris wins

The US Democratic party has banned Palestinians from speaking at its National Convention (DNC), a slap in the face to Palestinians, Palestinian-Americans and opponents of genocide hoping for an opportunity to voice their case to the gathering of notionally-liberal politicians and activists.

The move, which is no doubt an attempt to appease the powerful US Israel lobby and to avoid embarrassing either ‘Genocide Joe’ Biden or his vice-president and would-be successor Kamala Harris, has provoked fury among the ‘Uncommitted Movement’ of voters who are not registered to vote for either the Democrats or Trump’s fascist Republicans and who had hoped to give Palestinians a say in Democrat policies that would have made voting for Harris in this autumn’s presidential election a more palatable option.

The ban is a clear signal that US ‘ironclad’ commitment to the Israeli settler-colonial, apartheid project and its support for the genocide Israel is perpetrating on two million innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza is not going anywhere if Harris wins in November. The Uncommitted Movement has issued a statement condemning the Democratic party’s ‘hierarchy of human value, which treats Israeli lives as far more important than Palestinian, and calling for urgent change:

Uncommitted delegates urge the Democratic Party to reject a hierarchy of human value by ensuring Palestinian voices are heard on the main stage. We are learning that Israeli hostages’ families will be speaking from the main stage. We strongly support that decision and also strongly hope that we will also be hearing from Palestinians who’ve endured the largest civilian death toll since 1948.

Excluding a Palestinian speaker betrays the party’s commitment in our platform to valuing Israelis and Palestinian lives equally. Vice President Harris must unite this party with a vision that fights for everyone, including Palestinians.

The difficulty in approving even a single Palestinian American speaker among the dozens of speakers on the convention stage sends a troubling message to our anti-war voters, suggesting they aren’t truly included in this party.

The pain and loss of an Israeli or a Palestinian are no different, but there is an added sting in our communities when we know that it is our tax dollars funding the killing of our loved ones.

We have provided the Democratic Party with a list of names and stand ready to provide more if needed. There is no reason not to get this done.

Protesters outside the convention have seen Democratic party delegates walk past them laughing or with their ears blocked to avoid hearing calls to save Palestinians from Israel’s genocide. With the UK harassing and charging anti-genocide journalists and criminalising anti-genocide protesters and anti-fascists, it remains clear that the end of the genocide remains in the hands of the mass popular movement in support of the Palestinians against Israel’s racism and mass murder and that politicians will only begin treating all peoples equally and justly if they are forced to do so.

  1. Who is the Palestinian speaker that has been banned from appearing on stage at the DNC❓

      1. Semantics, dear Dougal….Semantics, old boy.

Excluding a Palestinian speaker betrays the party’s commitment in our platform to valuing Israelis and Palestinian lives equally.

That quote mentioned A as in ONE Palestinian.

Nevermind that the rest of the article refers to PalestinianS, as in the plural.

      2. Credit where it’s due, Doug. It takes a great deal of cognitive dissonance and total absence of any kind of moral compass on the part of young Billy to be so deliberately – rather than naturally – obtuse in this context.

      3. Thanks for all your ‘help’, but a simple “I don’t know” would have sufficed.

      4. Dave – Oh dear, if only we were all as clever as you think you are. 😞

      5. “All of them”, as referenced in the article, is definitive in any language.

Or are you describing your own lack of gorm, Billy?

      6. Dave – Who are you trying to impress, yourself?

As I said earlier a simple “I don’t know” would have sufficed.

Thanks for being so ‘helpful’, I’ve now found the info that I requested earlier.

      7. After a period of (most welcome) absence, you return with your usual bullshit to regale us all with a further two stock answers in succession.

Unmistakably demonstrating you are completely devoid of any originality whatsoever.

As well as being unfortunate enough as to be bereft of the ravages of basic comprehension of written material (although in fairness, that’s occasionally by choice).

And yet you question the intelligence of others.

Get back in the bin. And stay there.

      8. Toffee – Who are you so desperately trying to impress, yourself?

As I said earlier a simple “I don’t know” would have sufficed.

Thanks for being so ‘helpful’, I’ve now found the info that I requested earlier.

      9. Make that THREE default answers.

Mond you, I suppose when you’ve had a paycut or most likely been binned off altogether, there’s no point in thinking….Or maybe the lack of briefing has forced you to resort to your ubiquitous repetitive, worn-out, shite.

Either way, it’s fucking tedious. Desist.

      10. Toffee – Whether you read and respond to my comments is entirely your decision.

Nobody is forcing you to do anything, the choice is all yours.😏

      11. Thanks for being so ‘helpful’, I’ve now found the info that I requested earlier.

Boasts the hypocritical prick that sneers at others when they want further information from him, with pathetic remarks about not being able to use search engines, and such like.

Well done, prick. Don’t give yerself too many callous by slapping your own back, will ya?

      12. Billy – It is gratifying of you to concede that it does not much in the way of cognitive ability to hand you your arse on a regular basis.

      13. “Thanks for being so ‘helpful’, I’ve now found the info that I requested earlier.”

Having already had that information pointed out to you by Doug, Toffee, and myself, Billy,
        you’re welcome.

It is most gratifying to receive thanks for services rendered from someone who clearly failed the test to get into Kindergarten.

  2. Back in 2012, California Attorney General Kamala Harris denied parole to Sirhan Sirhan who was framed for the 1968 assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy.

The reason for the assassination is quite straightforward: Had he gone on to become president, Robert Kennedy may well have sought to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. He might also have sought to re-open the Senate inquiries that had threatened to send Vice President Lyndon Johnson to prison that same year. Getting those inquiries closed down was one of a number of important priorities for Lyndon Johnson once he became president.

And so, both the CIA and President Johnson had strong reasons to prevent Robert Kennedy from becoming president. Had he been paroled, it would have been possible for Sirhan to be hypnotised so as to discover who hypnotised him originally after he fell off his horse in September 1966.

  3. Apropos the original post – Kamala Harris gave a cracking finish to her speech – in support of Palestinians. (She had previously made various references to Israel/Gaza…)

Of course there are several “swing” states who have large Arab populations!

I think the jury is out as to her views on the ME situation – a very short time ago the Democrat candidate was Biden.

    1. Looking through the Official 2024 ‘Democratic’Party platform document, you would be forgiven for thinking Biden – who gets almost 300 mentions, twice as many as Trump, and more than ten times those of his erstwhile running mate and the current Presidential hopeful – was still the candidate:

      https://euroyankee.substack.com/p/the-2024-democratic-party-platform

They couldn’t even be bothered to revise the document to reflect the change in candidate.

    2. Moreover, in terms of “support” for Palestinians this clip……

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmzJaidv3iI&ab_channel=GuardianNews

…….where Harris dismissed those calling for a ceasefire in Gaza who were chanting, “Kamala Kamala you can’t hide, we won’t vote for genocide,” with a cynical retort:

“If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that”.

…..suggests business as usual on that front from the other of the two candidates beholden to the AIPAC controllers.
