Video: US State Dept spokesman refuses to say IDF raping prisoners is a war crime

US govt happy to propagate false Israeli rape narrative – but won’t say actual torture-rape of arbitrarily-detained Palestinians is a crime

A spokesman for the US State Department has refused to say that the torture-rape of Palestinian prisoners by Israeli military captors is a war crime.

Challenged by a reporter to state the obvious criminality of the rape and torture of arbitrarily-detained prisoners by occupation soldiers, the spokesman – clearly following the official government line – hemmed and hawed and pleaded ignorance, but would not say that Israel’s actions are criminal, even though even the Israeli military has remanded ten soldiers into custody of the brutal rape of one prisoner this week that injured the man so severely that he had to be hospitalised:

The United Nations and human rights groups have condemned Israel’s systematic use of rape on prisoners as a method of torture and humiliation. But Israeli politicians have described as ‘heroes’ and ‘holy’ the ten arrested perpetrators – and a mob, including far-right government ministers stormed the military prison this week in an attempt to free the rapists.

Yet while it will not condemn Israeli war crimes, despite numerous International Court of Justice and United Nations rulings and the application of the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor for arrest warrants, the US (and UK) government has eagerly continued to propagate Israel’s long-disproven atrocity propaganda of rape, murder and beheadings.

  1. Their hypocrisy beggars belief! But we must go on calling them out and denouncing UK complicity in this, and other heinous war crimes.

Netanyahu et al stand revealed to the whole world for what they are. They are reviled, despised, indicted of war crimes. Their economy is tanking, and the peoples of the whole world stand with Palestine and its struggle for liberation and dignity; for statehood. History will vindicate Palestine, and Israel will be utterly and justifiably condemned.

    1. True enough and nothing a hall full of jumping seals can do will change international opinion.

  2. The Nazis didn’t have to look far for yes-men either… (But then those sneaky Allies changed military law so that unthinkingly obeying orders was no longer a legitimate defence.) And these highly paid dweebs are supposed to be better than us!

  3. There is no way back for Israel and the West
Every atrocity has been recorded and will be replayed time and time again until those responsible face justice

  4. This is what some Israeli Knesset members apparently think of the situation (with subtitles)
