Dangerous incompetence – or dangerous warmongering?

The Ministry of Defence has been forced to scramble to cover for Keir Starmer’s potentially deadly assurance, given in Washington this week to anti-worker Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelenskiy, that Ukraine can fire UK-made missiles at targets within Russia.
The announcement provoked fury in the Kremlin – and military leaders have had to ‘clarify’ that Starmer didn’t mean ‘within Russia’ when he said ‘within Russia’. Instead, the MOD says, he meant they could be fired at targets within Russian-occupied territory in Crimea and Ukraine. So that’s ok then, presumably.
Barely a week into his Reform-manufactured government and officials are already having to conduct damage-limitation for Starmer’s dangerous incompetence – or dangerous warmongering, take your pick.

And that just the first week in office what a fucking nobhead
This is just the kind of incompetence we are going to have to get used to.
It is certainly the kind of incompetence LP members have become used to.
Starmer says what he believes again and others have to cover for him again. Will the MSM continue not to do their jobs again?
And will Owen Jones have to do it for them?
I’d rather have dozy joe. He’s got an excuse at least. 😕
(Anyone remember the spitting image sketches the president’s brain is missing? Reagan, for all his senility, was NEVER thatfar gone).
*Don’t wanna tempt fate but this is 5 posts in, and it hasn’t appeared.
So what connects the Fuhrer giving Farage a free run in Clacton, Reform paving the way for Labour’s loveless Landslide and the reverse takeover of the Cheap and nasty party
Answer
Money
No matter who you vote for the same fuckers get in
Same sort of thing that links reform to the Tory’s.
Lowe. Great Yarmouth Reform candidate.
Mrs Sunak. Nuff said.
Both named directors of failed Digme fitness operation. Took £630k in furlough cash before collapsing with debts of over six million. HMRC was of the creditors
“The Army just wouldn’t stand for it. The general staff would not allow a Prime Minister to jeopardise the security of this country and people would use whatever means possible, fair or foul, to prevent that. You can’t put a maverick in charge of a country’s security.”
I’m getting a bit confused here. Was the above MOD statement a response to Starmer’s oft-repeated foot-in-mouthery, or the MOD justiying the army general’s Corbyn “mutiny” threat?
Something clearer: How Starmer pulled off a triumph with three million fewer votes than Corbyn
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/07/05/starmer-triumph-three-million-fewer-votes-than-corbyn/
“I apologise for resembling the drizzle which preceded Sir Keir Starmer’s victory speech about “the sunlight of hope”, but I should like to start with this quiz question.
““When, in this century, did Labour get the largest number of votes in a general election?”
“The answer is, “Not this week, and not under Tony Blair. It was in 2017, when Labour was led by Jeremy Corbyn.” It won 12,877,918 votes, but only 262 seats, losing to the Conservatives….

Unfortunately, keef’s lower-than-Corbyn’s vote share isn’t the story. The MSM aren’t interested in that; rather their thinly-veiled adoration of farage and how ‘unfair’ it is that deform ‘only’ got four seats from several million votes**.
**This is why I’m against PR. The continual lurch to the right will give neonazis like them even more power, nevermind allow them to hold the balance. I don’t know what the answer is, but I’m not convinced (and I doubt I ever would be) that it’s PR.
At this rate Corbyn will be fully politically rehabilitated in plenty of time to lead a left alliance/form a new party before the next election. If Starmer hasn’t got us all killed in the meantime, that is!
I agree that Starmer had his foot in his mouth – he should
have said nothing – for the simple reason that you do NOT tell
an invader in advance your intentions .. He is an incompetent
and show off …..
Still the world seems full of loudmouth incompetents these days – mostly male.
Farage put it about that Putin invaded because he was alarmed
about the enlargement of NATO – a non sequitur because what Putin
did resulted in the opposite of his concerns – viz the proliferation of NATO countries.
Naom Chomsky was interviewed about this *** where in this rather long piece –
he said that previous to the war neither Germany nor France nor the UK wanted
Ukraine in NATO. Chomsky wondered “Are there no statesman in Russia ..” (!)
and also stated that Russia is not alone in committing war crimes. As we
all know – this is not a zero sum game.

A lot has happened since 2022 and the issue is a lot wider than the Ukraine – as explained here by Michael Hudson:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ-fvnNEu7o&ab_channel=DialogueWorks
Who in another interview on the same platform also notes the following reality:
“NIMA: How do you see the changes that are happening far right, far left, center? Is it changing? The definition of these terms are changing in Europe, in your opinion?
MICHAEL HUDSON: The rhetoric is changing. And there has been a change. The socialist parties, when they moved to the right wing of the spectrum, became internationalist. A lot of this was the result of World War II, and it’s been happening for 75 years. Many of the liberals thought that what caused World War II was nationalism. What’s the alternative to nationalism? Internationalism. So, they all thought that joining Europe together would end European war. And if you could have an international world economy, that would end war.
What they didn’t realize is that the international world economy has become unipolar, dominated by the United States, and the United States is nationalist. So, what you have is an internationalist economy that is dominated by the United States and its own national interests against other countries. And its national interests believe that it can only consolidate its power by preventing any other country from acting independently of the United States. And even if they don’t act actively against American trade policy or financial policy, the very potential of them for being independent is looked at as a deadly risk for them. And so, the United States is engaged in regime change. It’s put 800 military bases across the world to prevent all this.
Well, the effect of all this has been to drive the rest of the world together. And it looks like it’s creating a new international order by the BRICS, by the 85% of the world population. And what you’re seeing now is in response to the United States’ drive to control the world and its own interests. It’s driven Russia, China, and Iran together, first of all, by creating the military alliance, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and then by expanding into the BRICS.”

Meanwhile, recent weeks have seen a plethora of headlines in even the UK and European Corporate media highlighting the lack of air defence, artillery and artillery ordinance, offence and defensive capabilities, small arms, insufficient troop numbers, logistical issues, the dependency on China for a whole host of rare materials vital to Western military systems etc across both NATO and the UK.
All arising from four decades of neo-liberal economic illiteracy (which Starmer’s Labour Junta is wedded to) in which industrial manufacturing capacity has been outsourced to drive wage and other social costs down for the majority to further increase profits and wealth for the oligarch minority.
The idea that just because a few more States have joined a dysfunctional NATO this is going to stop the Global Majority from prevailing is risible.
As is the notion that the actual record of eight years of grown up diplomacy sticking to the Minsk agreements which Western politicians have subsequently openly admitted they had no intention of honouring – using those agreements as a means to rearm a neo-Nazi ultra nationalist regime who got its arse kicked by those they were seeking to exterminate in the Donbass back in 2015 – along with a generous set of mutual security agreements in December 2022 which was thrown back in their faces represents “evidence” of having “no statesmen.”
The level of projection there is off the scale. Regardless of who says it.
Seen footage of the Biden “Putin’ gaffe earlier. All the NATO nations leaders lined up
Keef, the diminutive little fart amongst the lot of them.
Small man syndrome.
