Lancet study: real number murdered by Israel in Gaza likely 186,000

As friends of genocide try to deny ‘Hamas’ figures, respected medical journal reveals horrifying reality of mass slaughter

A new report published by the world’s oldest medical journal, The Lancet, has analysed the data of deaths and suggests that the number of deaths caused by Israel’s genocide in Gaza is as high as 186,000, four times the official figure published by the Gaza health ministry.

In its report, the peer-reviewed scientific health journal states that using an estimate of four ‘indirect’ deaths for every person killed by bombs, bullets and shrapnel – which it considers a low ‘conservative’ ratio, the number of people killed so far by Israel, since it killed an ‘immense’ number of its own people on 7 October during the Hamas raid, is horrifyingly far higher than any official number:

Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza.

A death toll of more than 100,000 has been suggested by local sources for some weeks and was already entirely credible given the extent of the devastation of Gaza by Israel’s occupation forces, but the Lancet report is based on cautious scientific study from a source that even the most ardent Israel propagandist will find it hard to refute.

The tactic of Israel and its cheerleaders – including, shamefully, the US and UK governments – has so far been to rubbish the ‘Hamas’ figure, even though death and injury statistics published by the democratically-elected authority in previous assaults have proven accurate. Scandalously, the UK media have played along with Israel’s propaganda. Now it is legitimate to use the far higher – and far more realistic – figure when describing the extent of Israel’s mass murder and war crimes.

And since the numbers wounded have typically been more than double the deaths, that means as many as 370,000 people injured, many of them maimed, by the occupation regime.

The suffering of millions of innocent Palestinians cannot be reduced to mere statistics – but the cold reality of the numbers hints at the scale of the horror deliberately inflicted on a population of over two million people, more than half of them children.

  1. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced he would begin reviewing issues such as the future funding of the Palestinian relief works agency UNRWA.
Additionally, Lammy commented on the legal advice about the legitimacy of arms sales to Israel, by saying: “I made the solemn undertaking in parliament that I would look at the legal assessments, and I will begin that process, of course, as soon as I’m able to. I expect that to begin next week as I sit down with officials.”

    2. Is he as good as his word, do you think, or is his integrity starmerised already?

      1. qwertboi – I have no reason to doubt his word, do you?

        Time will tell.

      2. In broad terms a review “of the future funding of the Palestinian relief works agency UNRWA” can conclude with one of two outcomes.

        1. Continuing to fund that UN agency.
        2. Not continuing to fund that UN agency.

Similarly; Looking at the ‘legal assessments’ of the ‘legality of providing arms to Israel’ can also broadly conclude with one of two outcomes:

        1. Concluding it is illegal.
        2. Concluding it is legal.

Seeing as both Lammy and Herr Starmer are both registered members of Labour Friends of Israel…

….any notion that option 1 will be the outcome in both instances would seem, lets go for the time being with, overly optimistic.

To the extent that it is doubtful the bookies would even bother offering odds on those particular options.

However, Billy seems confident on the matter.

        Time will tell.

      3. Keef shafted you over brexit, which wasn’t gonna happen if he could help it…Until it happened

Keef kidded you into voting for him and his ten pledges All of which were dropped within as many weeks of becoming fuhrer.

…And most recently at the general election.

And you still have no reason to doubt his word, while calling everyone else gullible.

And yet you still refuse to answer: you voted keef because??

    3. Nearly 200k deaths in less than a year approximates to 1 million dead in 4 years, which is UK frontline losses in the 1st world war, the 2nd bloodiest war in human history. Against a population of many women and children. All of human history has rarely seen such a one-sided assault by a massively US-armed state against an imprisoned population of the largely unarmed & vulnerable. Perpetrated by a state born after the Holocaust which acts in the name of all Jews. Human history has rarely, if ever, seen cynicism like it.

  2. … another action for people to take …

FIFA announced it will make a decision about whether or not to ban Israel by July 20. FIFA are currently seeking legal advice on this.

Israeli forces have killed at least 1000 athletes and destroyed all football infrastructure in Gaza including Al-Yarmuk stadium.

The Israeli Football Association is complicit in enforcing violent oppression of Palestinians – from blocking their ability to travel to games to failing to address racist chants towards Arabs.

The Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza and oppression towards Palestinian football are in violation of FIFA statutes.

There’s more info on this action on this FIFA: BAN ISRAEL page:
    https://actions.eko.org/a/fifa-council-ban-israel-hub/

  3. Ban them from the Olympics too. If I was French I’d be demanding to know just how much the security detail for israeli athletes will be costing.

    1. 20 July is before the start of the Olympics. If FIFA decide to ban them, could it influence the Olympics Committee, perhaps?

If The Lobby prevail and Israel take part, I can’t wait to hear the slagging they’re gonna get when they enter the Stadium at the Opening Ceremony! 😀
