Despite being asked repeatedly by reporters, Matt Miller’s got nothing
Smears against Assange and Wikileaks by the US government are continuing after Assange’s release this week. Assange accepted a plea deal despite doing no wrong and the US case against him being long disgraced, to end his persecution by the American regime – yet the US seems unable to stop spreading falsehoods.
Asked by reporters about the plea deal, State Department spokesman Matt Miller claimed Wikileaks’ 2010 release of information on US war crimes – those weren’t acknowledged, of course – had harmed numerous people. But when the journalists asked for a single example of harm caused, Miller was unable to provide even that:
Miller also declined to respond to an Australian reporter’s question about the fact that the US judge who signed off on the deal acknowledged explicitly that there were no victims of Wikileaks’ release of the information.

Democratic leaders did not tell members to vote against an amendment to block the State Department from citing the Gaza Health Ministry’s statistics.
The House of Representatives has voted to effectively conceal the death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza.
On Thursday, lawmakers voted 269-144 on an amendment to prohibit the State Department from citing statistics from the Gaza Health Ministry. The measure is part of the annual State Department appropriations bill. It was led by Democratic Reps. Jared Moskowitz, Fla., and Josh Gottheimer, N.J., and Republican Reps. Joe Wilson, S.C.; Mike Lawler, N.Y.; and Carol Miller, W.V.
Moskowitz and Gottheimer are among several Democrats who have repeatedly worked to undermine the movement for Palestinian rights and pro-Palestinian speech.
In April, the pair joined Republicans to lead a resolution condemning the phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” as antisemitic….
“It’s despicable but not shocking that 62 Democrats joined Republicans to refute the Gaza death toll,” one Democratic staffer told The Intercept. “Democratic leadership should be ashamed for refusing to take a stand and call out the blatant anti-Palestinian racism and genocide denial in our party.”
The reality is that the US is run and controlled by fascists, as this makes abundantly clear.

Jesse Ventura has got it right. Politicians (both in ‘murrica and here) should be made to wear sew-on patches on their suits to demonstrate who funds them.
I was trying to determine how many people have been arrested on the national demos since last October earlier (and how many ended up being prosecuted) and came across the following piece on Stop the Wars website from May 21st entitled ‘Palestine March Organisers Demand Met Police Meeting After Stewards & Protestors Threatened by Pro-Israel Demonstrators’. Here are some clips from it:
On Saturday, 250,000 demonstrators marched through London on what was one of the biggest of the national Palestine protests so far.
But the organisers are now demanding to meet with Metropolitan police commissioner Mark Rowley after both protestors and stewards were subjected to frightening abuse, insult and provocation from a pro-Israel counter protest.
Head stewards representing the six organisations involved in the Palestine marches were horrified to discover pro-Israeli protestors, who police had assured them would be behind barriers well away from the march, had been allowed to assemble directly on the agreed route, with only a space of three meters between them and hundreds of thousands of people trying to pass through. Many of the counter protestors were holding placards accusing marchers of being ‘rape supporters’.
Only the sheer determination of the line of stewards to stand firm in creating a barrier against the counter-protest for the hours it took for the main demonstration to pass through Piccadilly Circus prevented a serious incident.
The organisers stopped the march for 15 minutes to try to negotiate with the police a way for the demonstration to proceed safely, including suggesting a short diversion to avoid confrontation. They were refused.

And just in case you were wondering, BBC Verify hasn’t verified that 40 babies were beheaded by Hamas, OR, given that only one baby was killed on October 7th, verified that they didn’t, and that it was of course malicious atrocity propaganda.
