Photos of Bassem Tamimi show stark contrast between Israeli and Palestinian treatment of captives

Images of Ahed Tamimi’s father after 8 months in Israeli prison with no charges show who are the terrorists and contrast sharply with well-fed Israeli captives

Bassem Tamimi, Palestinian activist and father of Ahed Tamimi, the then-16yo Palestinian girl arrested for trying to prevent Israeli soldiers entering her home, has finally been released after spending eight months in an Israeli prison without charge.

Tamimi, who lives in the West Bank and not Gaza, was arrested in late October, initially for six months, with the administrative detention then extended by a secret panel. The contrast between how the 56yo looked before his arrest and now could hardly be starker:

But the contrast is even greater between his appearance now and the well-kept, well-fed appearance of the four Israeli captives released last week after being held captive in Gaza for a few weeks longer – during an assault in which Israel killed at least three others as well as well over two hundred Palestinians, mostly women and children. Some even appeared to have gained weight during captivity in which they seemed to have been fed better than local Palestinians:

Thousands of Palestinians remain imprisoned without charge, many in concentration camps and some losing hands or feet from being held so long in handcuffs or zipties – hostages just as much as any Israeli held in Gaza, though the western press does not name them as such.
